I got it but it seems I can only take 30 seconds of video no matter what I set the time frame.

Hmm. So it seems that fraps won't work on my laptop, only at my comp at home. So it's going to be a while yet before I get to making that new opening scene. Unless someone can reccomend an alternate program.

Any Idea why it works this way though?

I think it limits the clip size to 30 seconds just for matters of file size. I could be wrong though.

Ghost, I usually can get 30fps at 640 x 480 from SnapzPro on my iMac, but intense combat scenes or "busy" sectors cause dropped frames, so I usually film at 20 fps at 640 x 480, with a reasonable graphics level on the game (high details, shaders & glow on) If you wanna make a DVD or something I guess we'll have to sacrifice quality for framerate. Unless someone out there has a 256 MB video card and really low ping.

I can film for as long as I have hard drive space. I've got about 20 GB of raw V-O footage just kind of sitting on my HD now.

Should we do the movie on the test server? Maybe. My pings are always about twice as high on that server, tho.

Hmm now I'm having problems with the screen resolution. When it's in fullscreen everything looks horrible even though it was captured in full screen.

Well nvm the resolution hehe. I just need a site to host my movie.

Anyone Else have any web space to host videos?

Forget QuickTime AND WMV... use RAD Video Tools http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm and the DivX codec to convert it to a high-quality .avi. If you're using WMM, (which I assume you are, considering it's wmv... *shudders*) you'll most likely need to convert it to an uncompressed AVI or MPEG-4 first (ugly, because WMM won't compress anything but it's own format, so we're talking about a gig of filesize for every five minutes of video...though HOW they manage to make it that big, I may never know)

In the end, it'll have approximately the same size and quality as QuickTime, but it will be playable by people who don't have QT. (WMPLAYER users will need the DivX codec http://www.divx.com/ , which they should all probably have anyway...)

It would be really cool if people would post their vids unedited so that other people could put stuff together. I'd love to make a promo or something, But I don't have the time, the sw or the connections to get all the vid I would like, but if people could centralize their vids into an archive, I'm sure I could pull together enough stuff.

Are you still looking for someone to host that video, Touriaus? I could put it with the rest of the ones I've got if you'd like. Email <my name> at gmail.com.

it's too big to e-mail.
Oct 15, 2005 Beolach link
How big is it? There are utilities available to split it into chunks that could be emailed. Or I could setup an FTP user for you, but that would require work on my part... I'm too lazy for that, methinks.

get gmail

Just a thought:

In the future you could use a joystick to produce more smooth panning shots. Using a mouse is nice and flexible but it just isn't what you need for the shots where camera movement is key.

Great Job!

Get Gmail!

Gmail has maximum attachment size limits, too (well, maximum message size, including the atachment). It's 10 MiB, so if your movie is 100 MiB (big movie), it would take 10 emails.

>>"It would be really cool if people would post their vids unedited so that other people could put stuff together"<<

yea.... who is it that said they had some tens odd gigs of footage on their HDD? I'd like to make some music videos with that stuff =P

Breaking Benjamin - Blow me Away;
In Flames - Only for the Weak;
Propellerheads - Spybreak;
Nightwish - Crimson Tide, Moondance & Tenth Man Down;
30 Seconds to Mars - Edge of the Earth & Welcome to the Universe;
Powerman5000 - When Worlds Collide & Bombshell;
Drowning Pool - Bodies....

I can think of a lot of tracks what would go very well with some good VO action footage =P

it's 31MB. E-mailing cannot happen on my end.

Then FTP it. Or AIM it.
