my satalite sucks
i have learned that my satalite conection is horable for online gameing. what are some other options for high speed internet in rural america?
Depends on what you mean by rural. HOW rural is the area? Can you get cable internet access. Maybe DSL? You could use regular 56k dial up.
well i am kind of in the middle of no where nearest town is 20 miles away so no cable. so would dial up be better than satalite because my average ping is 1000/1200/0 ?
there are two main types of satilite connection. two way, where comunications pass thru the satilite in both directions, and one way, where you use dail up to send information and you recieve information thru the satilite.
satilites are geneally stationed in geo-sync orbit, if I recall, about 60,000 mile from earth. even at the speed of light, this can be measured in major fractions of a second. this is one of the most significant delays introduced by satalite.
56k dial up with a "good" isp can give very good response time. often much better than satilite. the only problem here is when the data load exceeds the 56k. i am not sure about this game, but i suspect that the actual data loads for play are quite reasonable, and you may do well with 56k, if you can find the right isp.
cable and dsl often give the best of both worlds. fast response time, with high enuf throughput that it is hard to bog it down.
often too pricy for normal people, there are long range wireless connections available. I'm mean pricy. but it can give near dsl to semi remote locations.

would you suggest using dial up on this game instead of satalite them?
While I haven't used dial-up in VO (thank goodness for broadband), I had used dial-up for other online multiplayer games with decent results.
Satellite! For Serco's sake, it's Satellite! Arrrrrgghhh!

Unless cable or DSL is available in your area, dialup is probably the only access method that has low enough latency to play Vendetta on. Satellite is horrible for gaming, period.
I have used dialup before on vendetta. It works pretty well for what I was doing, so if you're a trader you shouldn't have much of a problem at all.
I still use dial-up on occasion, my pings average in the 150-250 range, decent for trading, but combat becomes just a bit iffy.
One of the major design points of vendetta throughout the alpha/beta period was an attempt to keep the game as "low end" as possible, and this included attempts to keep latency low for dial up connections if i recall correctly

Yes. I used Dial-Up, and got 150-200 ping. But im in Philadelphia, PA. But If you get THAT much lag then DEFINANLY go to dial-up.
P.S. What the Hell are you doing in the middle of nowhere?
