New Jumpgate current or X players thread. Report in friends
Miah here or as I went by during my jumpgate times StarDruid (QUANT), Mi_ah (Oct I belive), Miah_Star(SOL) reporting in. Saw an much older thread but decide to not resurect it. Anyone else out there playing Vendetta?
Oh yah part of (SOL) navy now thought having trouble getting anyone to join this, most had bad Beta days. But I won't quit trying.
If any of you have a in-game guild I'm looking to hook up with fellow jumpgate players while playing this.. Currently my Main is UIT, Miah

There used to be a flood load of ex-Jumpgate who used to beta this game months ago and said they were not satasfied. Sadly.
Yeah, I saw the thread, most are of SOL navy are hard core Sim gamers that want a game where skill is more important then your gears. And in most cases that how Jumpgate is. It's not like this and eve.
Here sure things still take skill but jumpgate has near newtons physics, where shots can cover 2k distance or more and most people don't use targeting computers and still land those shots. Same people went to Planetside and usual were in the highest score group of people in the game.
I think for most of them it wasn't skilled based enough and didn't give it a chance. I know for me the AI's are unbelievable easy even in the newbie ship. In jumpgate it was harder even from the start. But From what I heard it's changed since beta and I'm going to try to get them in it again. But I alrady meet one old jumpgate player, I'm sure there are more here hiding.

Woah, woah woah.... skill has got to be the most important factor in this game. Much more important than what equipment you have.
Stay for long enough and you will see what I mean.

yeah, wait a minute, there's no skill in this game?
The physics is pretty reasonable here.
and if 2000 m is the effective distance, then its just a number,
shots must have been much faster or something. Which just makes the range of fighting longer.

the newbie bots are.. newbie bots :) (hey what'd anyone expect?)
players can offer more skill, and you can get a competent-level character in a few hours, so poke someone about it..

No rounds is most cases are slower. Takes a lot to get them to land. 2000 is actual short, with a straight head on course with the enemy your can hit at 4000-6000. Course they can do the same. And every round has to count because in most cases you only have 2 guns with 100 or so ammo each (during our game time. recently they've up ammo bins to 500 or so for ammo based guns). Unless you got laser which short range (750-1000).
And when I say near newton physics I mean that, Tows and Freighters pilots have to turn their ship around and counter trust for a while (2-15 mins) to slow down. Your weight effected every thing, accelerations, Stopping, turning. It could take 15 mins for those same tow and freighters to get to top speed.
Fighter had no trouble stopping but they had low mass so breaking thrusters were enough and most people used high thrust engines. Also top speed varied. Scouts and rangers could get to 900 with after burners.
Over a much harder game from the beginning. Problem was only the "elite" could really win in combat, the rest of us died relativly quickly in PvP. Without quick reflects you were dead (Like I always was, I got crap reflects wise compaired to everyone else).
In the end it's a really differnet game but everyone is looking for a replacement for it.

I'll come out of the closet here....I still maintain an account in Jumpgate SoLiCiDaL. Just for the record Stardruid, I was ISU until Ridgeway went MIA and the remainder were absorbed into SoLiCiDaL.
Now to clarify for Shape. The average fighter speed is about 450 (depending on your nation). Laser weapons are a beam burst, with a speed of 10,000 and dealy of .7 sec. with a life of .18 seconds making the range 1800 M. Ammo on the other hand, has an average speed of 2,600 and a life of anout 2 seconds making kills possible at 4,500 M. The game phyics make it more like real life jet fighters in that there is massive slip and such. I hope that helps you understand a little better. Any questions feel free to ask.
Most of Sol Navy left JG early on after the disappointing release of EP-2. I don't know most of the reasons the Sol Navy guys left VO, but I heard some from the SoLiCiDaL guys. Basically it was "this isn't Jumpgate". Well, they got that right, IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE. VO is a game all it's own. One thing about this game is, you can't come in and fly your gov. bus around for an hour and say that's all there is. You got to get your levels up, and get your butt into grey space, and forget about other games. What I did was open my mind to an all new game. I didn't try to compare or think I had a replacement for JG. You really need to get your levels up though. For one, you need to get some cash behind you as PvP is expensive. The other is getting good ships and kit for them. Unlike Jumpgate you cannot see the ships and kit until you are almost ready to rate them. Maybe they should change that. I know one comment I heard was there are only 2 ships, the n00b ship and the wraith. When actually, we have more variaty of ships then Jumpgate ever had, especially counting in the NPC faction ships and kit.
Stardruid, Look for me in game, I'll help you in any way I can, and the same for any of the SoLi/SN crowd.
Oh, and did I mention that the combat in VO totally ROCKS?
Cheers!

I'm good, the game's a lot like Jumpgate and Eve. Biggest problem I'm having is no JGwebtracker or JGRot to get uptodate market information. That and no active mining to keep mining from getting boring. Makes a hauler/miner like myself pull his hair out. Oh well I'll adapt.
Stardruid,
There is a web tracker of sorts:
http://vendetta.leechbak.nl/
It's not as detailed as web tracker, but it will get the job done. There's also a Wiki mining database that I'll post here when I find it again. Also "Trade Guild" missions pay out pretty good, and there is shortages listed in the news tab in game.
Cheers!
