Macworld gives Vendetta-Online the finger...
well, not really, but sorta...
Here's the quote from the "GameRoom" section of the June 2005 Macworld.

If you are intrigued by Guild Software's Vendetta Online but don't want to pay the monthly fees, check out Freeverse's X2 - The Threat. This new single-player game puts you in the cockpit of a spaceship as you explore, raid, or trade. It's a bit like Ambrosia Software's Escape Velocity, but in 3-D."
Maybe it's a bit of advertisement for VO, but seems kind of like a slam to me...
oh well...
just thought I'd let ppl know...

I don't think it's too much of a slam. Macworld will often contrast free and pay services, and it usually becomes apparent that the pay ones are better. I think they were offering an alternative, and they made it clear that X2 is single player, and does not have the advantages of an MMORPG.
Agreed, I don't really see it as an insult. I actually see it as a compliment that VO got mentioned at all.
Yes, actually Macworld gave VO a very favorable review a few issues back, which is what brought me here in the first place.
X2's boring as hell, combat is slugish >.<
