Thanks for the good wishes everyone! It's been a wonderful experience working on Vendetta, but the community has been the best thing about it. Things like the ship contest, the valkyrie jack-o-lantern, the great hunt to decypher GTS, and my uhh... birthday present this year were all incredibly awesome. I'd say dueling some of our ace pilots was the best part, but I always got whomped, even when I cheated.

I'll still be around though, and I'll hop in game from time to time. I THINK I get to keep my account...? :) Like John said in the newspost, there are some new ships and things you haven't seen yet, and I'm excited to see everyone's reaction.

So take good care of the place for me, and be nice to the newbies. (Both the new players AND the new developers that come on board!)

Here's a question for Incarnate:
When you do rehire, do you think the replacement is going to be primarily an artist or primarily a coder? I'm just curious, given the existing (apparent) emphasis on the stability and featurebase over the interface, if it isn't a good time to bring on someone with experience (or even specialty) in UI development.

Well, we'll see I guess. We don't have a tremendous immediate need for art assets, and we do have a need for a lot of scripting type stuff. Having an artist onboard is definitely something we'll need eventually.

The UI problem isn't really a matter of hiring a "UI Guy" so much as our just.. dedicating the time/resources to it. It's been on our greater "to do" list for a long time, and some of us *really* want to fix it badly. But, right now, we have to make the game not.. dumb. A great UI would make it easier to use, but not more fun, that's why we chose to prioritize the way we have.

Right now I'm just focusing on design stuff. Once we nail down exactly how we're going to make the game more fun, I'll get a chance to look at other things.

Anyway, this is all a bit off-topic.. good luck, Waylon!
