Hi,
I am playing on an EEE PC 901 (1.6 GHz Atom processor, Intel Mobile 945 graphics, 1GB of RAM), with Ubuntu Linux.
My VO crashes on startup with no informative messages in any of the logs, with the message "Killed". The crashing is random; every now and then it starts, but mostly crashes. The crashing happens after getting the "Loading textures" screen, before the percentage reaching 100%, or before the login screen appears. The same crash happens after logging in, while waiting for "Entering Universe" to complete. What is curious is that when it is going to crash, the time spent waiting is doubled. Entering Universe may take up to a minute, but if it takes longer, then it's a crash. I also get a lot more crashes with 1024x600 than with 800x600.
Found a probable cause or symptom: When started normally Vendetta uses 80% of my memory, around 788 MB of used memory, 945 MB allocated. On my amd64 desktop machine, Vendetta uses only 200 MB. What's wrong here? Is this because of texture compression? I am using lowest quality textures on the EEE.

The memory problem is gone after using this config (basically turned tfactor_hack on, whatever that is)
