I figured this was my ancient macs fault but then Niki and slime said they had the same issue

we all have voice chat off now and the game starts. If I recall it started being this way with Mavericks

I've been having problems with this on Linux too, so it's not just a Mac problem. The game segfaults (sometimes?) during the loading screen unless I disable VC in the config.ini file.
