When this happens, can you submit a bug report via the Bug Reporter program? It sends additional information along with the report. Basically I want to see what your errors.log, directx8.log, and openglerr.log say.

There is just a dialog box that says "Cannot Open Window". The bug reporter doesn't run.

You have to manually run the bug reporter.
It should be in the Vendetta group in your Start Menu.

If so, I have a feeling your video card is not supported.

Download this program to your desktop and then run it.
http://www.ratelis.com/DXCapsViewer.exe
(it is case sensitive)
Go to the 'View' menu and select 'All Caps' and then go to 'File' and select 'Print whole tree to file'. This will save a file to the same place that the executable is located (on your desktop if you saved the exe to there).
Email that file to me and I can see what I can do about the problem.
