Need some Help
I want to get back into Vendetta but first I have to overcome a big hurdle.. Getting my internet fixed on my PC.
Im on a home wireless network with 3 PC's and a Laptop using Belkin.
I cannot connect to any webpage, any online game via my PC yet all the others can.
I have purchased a Wireless adapter so I can have the Aerial anywhere in my room yet it still doesn't work. I can connect to the other PC's and trade files so the Network works just not the Internet. Anyone got any suggestions at all, Im up for it. I payed £75 for a top PC wizz to look at it and he didn't have a clue so I was rather annoyed.
If you help me fix it i'll help you in Vendetta anyway I can.. Please I beg any of you if you can fix it.

Well, there's this:
http://www.belkin.com/support/Network_Support_Wizard/I_cant_connect_wirelessly.asp
But failing that, how about some more info? What happens when you try to connect? Do you get an error?
Obviously you have a decent signal, or you wouldn't be able to see the other computers, so we can probably ignore that.
Do you have Win XP? Do you have ANY sort of hardware software firewall installed?

my first thought would be incorrect settings in the LAN itself, possibly the DNS server or (local) IP address of the machine as I had a problem with that at one time myself.. (had two machines that i had accidentally specified the same LAN IP for, it gave the router fits, but in that case BOTH machines were behaving badly)
Im on Windows 2000 Professional.
Me, my bro and my dad all have the exact same PC and set-up yet the can get online.
When I try go on IE it comes up sayin "This page cannot be displayed" But it says i've got a strong signal and the lil green light flashes showing something is happening.
My PC dosnt like me.

hmm, well if you can share files on the network but not get on to the internet odds are its a configuration problem not a hardware problem. (note I use windows XP so yyour access to the settings might be a bit different)
A few things to look at:
in IE itself; check in tools/internet options/connections and make sure that your computer is set to either "never dial a connection" or "dial when network connection is not present" to make sure IE isn't looking for a modem.
From windows; under control panel / network connections: select your LAN and right click, then select properties. make sure you have Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) as a protocol. If you do, select it and then click on properties.
make sure the DNS and IP addresses there are valid to your router. (easiest way to verify this is to compare with a machine that is working, tho it sounds like you have allready done so)
[-odds are it isnt this, if this was screwed up you probably wouldnt even see the network much less share files on it -]
last, if you know how to access the settings in your router itself, open it up and make sure your router isn't treating your computer somehow differently than the others.
(in my router i can chose to disable/enable internet access for pc's on the LAN by thier LAN IP. it's a feature to restrict internet access from the LAN, mostly for buisnesses. If your router has a similar feature it's possible that for whatever reason it's disabling your PC from anything but LAN use)

Argh, Tried it all and still not work.. My dad comes bk from Afkanistan in 4 days so I suppose I can wait, he'll have a fiddle n see if he can sort anything.
hmmm
that sucks.
One other thing to try to do in order to isolate the problem is to try using a hardline to link your computer to the network and bypass the wireless alltogether.
if it works with a hardline but not the wireless then at least you know where the problem lies.

Good idea, but me dad comes home in 2-3 days depends how fast the plane flies out of Afkanistan and hopefully he can sort it, I've had 4 and a half months without playing a decent game, I've spent most my time on miniclip, I want VO back! :(
Then I still have the problem of persuading them to pay the £6.50 or how ever much it is a month.
Should be flying with you all soon.

Hmm, i've come accross this a few times, and usually its a part of windows xp getting in the way (Wireless Zero Configuration should always be disabled when using a 3rd party utility to connect), or something like Notorn Internet Security not properly recognising the wifi network as a trusted network (although I have found Belkin to be pretty unreliable) Disable all your firewalls and try again, there WILL be a hardware firewall in your router, so turning it off on your system WILL NOT invite 100's of port scannnin kiddies to access yer PC. If your certain it isnt a firewall, try uninstall the belkin utility. (remove the device first!) Re-install and reconfigure. If this still does not resolve it, you might wanna fire up the Internet Connection Wizard (In Internet Explorer goto Tools --> Internet Options... --> Connections tab --> Setup button.) Click next, Select Connect to the Internet, next, Set up my connection manually, next, Connect using a broadband that is always on, next and finish!
Hope that helps matey! Works for me 99.9% of the time!
[edit]
Failing that, you should contact Belkin, they have a free phone number in most countries, and all Belkin stuffs has a life time warrenty. So if it is faulty, they will send you another. (The amount of times they replaced my router before changing to netgear is just silly though :P)

Its sorted, FINALLY.
Dad came home, looked around for 8 hours... found nothing, He phoned Belkin but talked to an Asian so it was hard to understand, in the end. Hard-Drive wipe. O well, Got the job done, Im planning on joining Vendetta again v shortly.

Er....you might want to change that to "talked to somebody with a thick accent" or something. I know many Asians who speak very clearly and are more easily understood than most people.
Glad you got it resolved though.

An easier, yet much more expensive way to fix this: buy a mac.. turn it on.. play vendetta..
