remove the images support from the forums
(or at least from the suggestions forum)
I know this is probably going to be an unpopular request, but i'm making it anyhow. One of the things i most like about vendetta is the community in the forums. the discourse concerning the game and suggestions about how to make it better that actually get read by the dev team are a unique point that keeps me coming back.
I'm sure a few of you are wondering what any of that has to do with the images, well I personally dont like wading through hundreds of images, signature tags, and cute little pics when i'm involved in a debate about how something should work. IMO they are a distraction and useless clutter, at least they can be on other forums i've been to.
hmmm, maybe what i really want is an option to disable them so they dont display on my machine...

Hear, hear Spellcast.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure whether it would be a good idea for the reason you suggest - it can detract from actual discourse. But I think it can be handy, too, in certain cases. What I don't want are signatures, which is why we don't have support for them.
I figure after an initial period of abuse it will settle down but if not I will remove it.

What image support?
I see no images...

Scratch that... I opened my eyes.

I agree with Spellcast as well.

Personally, I would prefer the option to disable them, rather than their complete removal.
I have a fast connection, and while I realize that many others have slow connections and would prefer not to see images, I would prefer the option to enable images when I feel like seeing them.

PLEASE!
I agree with Spellcast already.

Please dear a1k0n, remove the images. I always loved our forum, because there were _no_ pictures. I don't want to be spammed by images in every thread i open to read.

Images, we don't need no stinking Images.

DekuDekuplex, it has absolutely nothing to do with connection speed. It has everything to do with being spammed by useless posts whose sole purpose is to clutter up the forums and leach bandwidth from other sites. (Please don't link to images that you don't personally host unless permission has been given by that site's webmaster. This is known as leaching and is greatly frowned upon by the greater web community. Please provide a link to the image's site.)
I'm in favour of being able to put in preferences to disable the receivement and visibility of pictures/images, not having the feature available at all.
cheers
PS: or even just be able to make this doable for every single user (just like ignore works in game), if this is at all possible

I don't mind removing the images, but, images _can_ be useful. it can be _very_ nice to use images to show examples of what one is talking about. it would be nice to see if this feature can be used for something good before we nerf it. :-)
I agree with the moderate solution. However, the only realistic short-term measures in my opinion would be complete removal.
I dont see how me posting the images as a link (ie, for screen shots that show errors, ect, ect) is that much worse than posting the actual image, then, people who want to see the image can click the link, those who dont can just scroll down, why anyone would think the actual posting of images into our posts would be an asset? I see the mod teams job becoming a little more difficult, especially when the game starts to pick up a bigger userbase...
Remove the images, you say you have no support for sigs? Cut and paste.

I vote for images.
I'm more worried about the possiblility to put something like "https://www.vendetta-online.com/x/payoptions" as the image url. Anyone looking at the thread will have his/her browser access that url. So unless every bit of important code on this site explicitly checks if the posted information is coming from a POST instead of a GET, having images on this forum can be dangerous.
This url for instance doesn't check for POST: "https://www.vendetta-online.com/x/payoptions?edit=1" while it could do that. I haven't tried in any more detail to see if the formhandler of that page does any more checks.

If signatuers and avatars interfere with your ability to pull the information from the post then you all have larger issues then images and signatures. You simply wish the forum to look as plain jane as possible, which to me, as an artist, makes it very painful to look at and read. Thought its really up to the devs, I really wish they WOULD allow avatars and sigs in these forums.
When avatars and sigs are enabled, people tend to have large, incredibly obnoxious ones. I'd rather not see every post have a 200x200 and 800x300 image attached to it...
so make an 80x80 exact or no image at all requirement, that's an easy fix.
