Repair Mission
Mission idea, could be either a group or solo mission. It would only be available to Respected or better standing pilots.
"One of our traders has contacted us, and is in need of repairs. He was attacked by a Kraz pilot, and barely managed to defend himself with his Chaos Swarms. His hull has been damaged to the point where he does not feel safe performing jumps, and he has used up all of his Swarm missiles, and so is a sitting duck if the Kraz should return! Can you repair him for us? We'll also give you a bonus if you escort him to his destination to ensure his safety."
If the player accepts, they tell him the damaged trader's coordinates, and a mission timer starts counting down. How much time is on the timer is NOT told to the player. If the timer ends before the player is in the same sector as the damaged trader, he is informed that the trader has been destroyed, and the mission is failed, with little or no faction standing lost. If the timer runs out while the player is in the same sector as the damaged trader (either before or after repairing), a Kraz pirate flying either a Corvus Vulturus or Corvus Marauder (possibly multiple pirates, depending on licenses & group size) jumps in, and attempts to destroy the trader again. Also if this happens, the player loses the Corvus option I'll describe below.
The player actually has a choice of actions. He can hurry to the damaged trader with a repair module, repair the trader to 50% or greater so the trader feels safe to jump, and then let the trader go on his way alone, returning to the station where he accepted the mission. This would give a moderate faction standing bonus, and some combat and trade XP. Or, the player can choose to escort the trader, which would trigger another pirate attack when the timer ran out. If the player successfully defends the trader from the new pirate attack, and the trader reaches his destination & docks while the player is also in station sector, then the player receives a larger standing boost, more Combat XP, and a credit bonus. Any of these would also give the player a small Corvus standing penalty.
Or there's the Corvus option I mentioned earlier. If the player reaches the trader before the timer runs out, he can choose to finish off the trader, and take the cargo (preferably a 'Special Delivery' type cargo) to a Corvus station. This would give a decent Corvus standing boost, and a small amount of combat XP, and Corvus would also pay rather well for this cargo they were so intent on getting. But of course, the faction that initially gave the mission would be rather peeved with this, and would dock your standing with them quite a bit.
There could also be Apprentice/Journeyman/Master Mechanic medals for doing X number repair mission (choosing to repair, of course), or a Pirate medal, if the player helps Corvus finish off traders from each of the different corporate factions.

*bump*
Does nobody like/dislike this? I really wanna see more missions that give combat XP...

I love the idea of a repair mission tree with the ability to get a medic/mechanic style badge. Your idea of combat xp and faction bonus/decrease are also appealing as there needs to be more missions that render combat xp. And getting an increase with Corvos while receiving a decrease with issueing station seems more then fair, though, there still needs to be implemented a way to increase factions with stations that do not have bots that can be killed if faction is lowered beyond the point of docking. Other then those small points I can't wait to see something like this in game. Good suggestion.
This is yet another example of how Vendetta missions can be great without extensive programming. More content like this can only be a good thing.
This sounds great. It has some real depth to it and a sense of achievment if you can get your "client" home safely.
It seems like it would scale really well for grouping and people of higher license levels.

This is a vary good idea.
Hehe .. I love it.
Made a quite similar suggestion a while back. Let me introduce you to Carl the bot: http://vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/6348#79405
