Player set Faction Standing Modifiers
I'd like to see more dynamics & player influence in faction standing, so here's one suggestion in that direction.
What I'm thinking is that players could set individual modifiers for other players, in the range of say -300 to +300, which would affect the faction standing as follows.
SB=SB+((SA/10000)*MA)
Where SB is Player B's base standing, SA is Player A's base standing, and MA is the modifier Player A set on Player B. This would apply for ALL faction standings.
Also, if Player A kills someone he has placed a modifier on in monitored space, he is penalized based off whichever is greater, SB or SB+MA, which means if you kill someone you placed a positive modifier on, you recieve a larger penalty.
If a player loses docking privileges by letting his base standing fall below -600 standing, he will still be allowed to dock, if he is accompanied into the station sector by someone who vouches for him by placing a positive modifier on him. This would be calculated like so:
If Player A is admired or better, Player B will be allowed to dock if SB+MA is greater than -600.
If Player A is respected, Player B will be allowed to dock if SB+(MA/2) is greater than -600.
If Player A is neutral or worse, he cannot vouch for Player B.
Multiple players can vouch for Player B, the effect is cumulative.
If Player B is KOS (-1000), only players who are Pillars of Society (+1000) can vouch for him.
Negative modifiers do not affect docking privileges.
Here's an example of a situation where it'd be used: A UIT player, UIT_Bob, is out & about building his trading empire. Suddenly, he is attacked by a feared pirate! UIT_Bob launches Gemini missles from his Maud, and attempts to flee, but due to his full load of massive trade goods, it's not looking like he's going to make it. But then, a friendly Itani pilot Itani_Joe jumps in, sees what's happening, and comes to UIT_Bob's rescue. Between the geminis & Itani_Joe, they manage to defeat the feared pirate, and UIT_Bob is safe once again. UIT_Bob thanks Itani_Joe, targets him, presses k, and at the bottom of the char info screen sees a slider to set how well he likes Itani_Joe. UIT_Bob drags the slider all the way to the right, setting his personal standing modifier with Itani_Joe to +300.
So, what does the modifier do? First, only between those players, if UIT_Bob ever kills Itani_Joe in monitored space, UIT_Bob is penalized as if Itani_Joe had 300 points higher than his base standing. Say, if UIT_Bob decides to help the Serco in CtC (they pay well), and in the course of action kills Itani_Joe in Bractus Watch. Itani_Joe has a base Ineubis standing of +300, but UIT_Bob loses as much Ineubis standing as if Itani_Joe had +600 (base+modifier).
UIT_Bob's modifier on Itani_Joe also changes Itani_Joe's base faction standings, based off of UIT_Bob's standings. UIT_Bob is a Pillar of Society (+1000) in the UIT, so when he places his +300 modifier on Itani_Joe, Itani_Joe's base UIT standing gets a +30 boost. UIT_Bob is Admired by TPG (+800), so Itani_Joe gets +24 to his base TPG standing. But it's not all good: UIT_Bob has -400 standing with Corvus (he doesn't like those dirty pirates), so Itani_Joe's Corvus standing changes -12.
Then there's the other side of the coin. UIT_Bob also sets his modifier to -300 on the pirate. This makes the Pirate gets -30 UIT, -24 TPG, and +12 Corvus standing. However, unlike the additional penalty UIT_Bob would get for killing Itani_Joe, if UIT_Bob were to kill the pirate in monitored space, he would receive the full standing penalty from the pirate's base standing, not the pirate's modified standing.
The time is now open for discussion.

Oh, another thing, if two players of the same faction both set the other to -300, they could then fight each other without dueling, and with both being in good standing with their faction.
Yeah, I'd actually love this. Then I could attack people in grey space, even if they WERE itani. (Considering current changes, I might really need N3's)
Oh YEAH, almost forgot, awhile back I suggested faction standing modifiers for a guild. Using a percentage of each guildmember's standing for each faction, then summing the lot of em, and then adding them to each individual guildmember's standings.
Hence, a guild composed of a random assortment of players would tend to come out even for the 3 major factions, with maybe some benefits for the lesser known ones.
A Corvus Guild could then offer to prospective members a Huge jump in standing. (say if each person is able to give 1/50 of their faction standing. if there are 10 people in the guild and everyone in the guild is 800, everyone gets + 160 to their standing, this would make themed guilds very useful)
EDIT: It might also cut down on the strictly Itani/serco guilds. Since the stronger players might want to focus on some particular standing instead. This would create a number of interesting competing guilds.
