faction specific guards
just a little suggestion which may contribute to the immersion.
All the station guards fly vultures at this moment. Why don't you change them to some more faction specific ships.
Eg. UIT guards fly warthog teritorial defenders, Itani fly IBG Centurions, Serco some kind of vulture (don't know which one is the special one), Corvus guards fly Corvus Vulturus etc.
You can even put some special ships in the capitals, like skycommand prometheus at serco skycommand, or vakyres at the itani capitols.
I think this would be a small and not to hard step to take in getting a different feel between the different nations and corporations.

Wow. Good idea.

another "Duh" moment. Yes, please implement this!!!
Seems to make sense to me... :) that would also leave the possibility of different station guards carrying different weps.
The Warthog TD could carry Plasdev, Megaposi, maybe even infinite rockets.
This would push toward a scenario where one could attack various stations. And fighting a different faction would be a different experience.

I'd like to see the Serco CtCer s trying to get away from an Itani Strike Force made up of Valks or IBGs... I really would. While this would be cool and all, perhaps we should consider the balance issues. (The Valkyrie is still a powerful ship, the prom is still kinda "nerfed", etc.)
I think giving Strike Forces and Station Guards (etc.) actual standing levels with local factions (namely Itani, Serco and UIT) would be more interesting in that it would allow the Strike Forces to attack other ones of different nations. Wouldn't it be more interesting to lure a pack of Itani SF into Geira, only for the Serco SF to massacre them as you watch and laugh? (Or vice versa?)

I haven't been able to play since this latest balance patch came out, but from what I've been reading, I think it addresses your concern, Celkan.
I like this idea a lot.
[edit]
Oh, and Celkan's idea of SF having faction standing would be cool too.

You get yoda's stomp of approval =D
i think this is a good idea too
me three, this is a really simple change that could make the game more flavorful
This could have been done at some point in the past by adding a little functionality and doing a *bunch* of setting-by-hand. Whether it would have provided more fun than other things the time was spent on, is a matter of opinion, but I don't think it would.
After we set up a dynamic economy and ships are built based on the availability of materials and facilities, a realistic, faction -specific variety of ships for defender/strike-force/trader/miner/escort npcs will happen without any setting-by-hand, and will *change* without manual intervention.

Wow... that sounds even better! :D
