for total immersion, it would be great if one of views could be view from inside of the ship. what I mean is being able to see monitors, and space if visible from windows that looks outside. I believe it would make the whole space seem much larger than it is now and get rid of that "space quake" feel.

I totally agree, it would be nice to have a cockpit view. maybe even a 3rd person view.
there's rudimentary third person view, F2 toggles between them.
it sucks though. devs know about it too :)

I suggest a toggle between "jacked in to ship computer" (current view) and "freelook in ship" (new)
Let me elaborate:
When not jacked in I should see it as if I was sitting in the pilots chair.
The HUD would not be anywhere since that's only available if I connected ship computer to spinal cord (Serco), reached the level of meditation where it became visible (Itani) or, put on the VR helmet back on (UIT).
Just a pre-rendered 360degree view that swirls 'round when I move the mouse would give me a kick, but seeing "actual" space outside a realtime-rendered cocpit would be nicer still.
Ofcourse the "Free look within ship" should have an actual use of some sort, like reading news from a digital newspaper, talking to the co-pilot (when implemented), nav screen or re-organizing weapons groups.

great input Demonen.
I think inside of the ship view can have a multitude of effects. To add to those that you've already listed, perhaps if ship is damaged you could only use in ship view (camera might be broken outside).
Again, this is done mostly for immersion. Right now, I feel as if I am the ship in claustrophobic space, everything is tiny. Now, if I could get different point of view, I'd realize that indeed ship is large, stations are huge, space is infinite.

Actually a good idea, would be fun for sure, but for the *actual* state of the game as it is, i don't see any _use_ in a view like that.
How about removing the spinning ship from the purchase menu (or only have the realtime-rendered one when the magnification glass is clicked) and replace it with a pre-rendered (or awesomely walon-drawn) picture of the ship with a tiny dude next to it?
Like they illustrate the size of a dinosaur in dinosaur books?

hmmm, old topick here, still, with a lot of new players since then, i would like to hear what you guys think about this. Personally I would like to see some cockpit graphics too. They can be made in a way that the hud graphix integrate into the cockpit graphix. It would contribute greatly to the atmosphere of the game, having different cockpits for each ship. A centurion with it's bubble canopy would have allmost no cockpit graphics and great visability, where a centaur with its car windshield type of cockpit would have far less visabilaty.
I think it could allso add to customizing ships, like eg, the centaur agresso would have it's cockpit expanded with extra windows like a gunship helicopter, making it more suitable for targeting another ship visually. The 3D model of the ship would have to be adjusted too for this offcourse.
I know there is still a lot of work for the devs that needs to be done first, so please don't flame, I'm just trying to put some constructive ideas here that may or may not make it to the game, and hopefully add to making vendetta special compared to other space mmo's.

Yah, I said it before, but it would be nice if the view was limited by a cockpit. A lot of the fun of a game is in what you can't see, what's obscured. Also, a lot of the features, Autoaim, turbo, etc.. could all be seen readily inside the cockpit.
There wouldn't be much of use to see from a rag or a valk if the ship were rendered in the cocpit view. It's all very well to have to look past a huge hood of a 70's Cadillac when you know there's nothing but asphalt below, but you've got problems when you are in space combat and you've suddenly lost half of your forward view.
The devs have envisioned a mudular HUD, and as I recall they weren't keen on having any part of the ship's structure showing, but I guess they could change their minds on that.

As far as I know, aside from loosing half the viewing area to junk that works just as well without being intrusive and obstructive, the main concern is that this will not fit with the 'the player avatar is the ship' idea the game uses. I think this is also the reason the station interface is so technical and bland. I'm sure it wouldn't take too much time implement swing-around views for each tab. The sell menu, for example, could easily have an image of a hangar full of junk as the backdrop, but it doesn't, because that sort of diversion would take the focus off the flying-around part of the game. And since the flying-around part really makes up the meat of the game, taking focus off of it would be a Bad Move&trade.
You don't actually have to take away half your view. It's allso possible to draw the cockpit graphics verry low in screen like this example ( http://starwraith3dgames.home.att.net/starwraith4/gallery/s22.jpg ) shows.
Except the way the cocpit is place on a ragnarok means you wouldn't be able to look down. Same with a Cent.
Although modern fighter planes seem to get away with it.

nice, allthough i have the feeling you are sitting a lil to high in the hog.
Well, that's where keeping an eye on your radar comes in. And its nice to have certain ships have blind spots, adds more strategy.
Edit: it would also make the Marauder VERY useful, owing to the amount that you ought to be able to see.

totally agree
While I would like this, the devs said they don't want it, and they are the final word on this sort of ting.
Lower in the hog would have resulted in a big "blank" spot where you could see through the ship's mesh.
Starfleet Academy had something like this. I never use it.
