Another blockade idea: Progressive Blockades
Building on ideas here:
http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/28673
I think rather than the random blockades that are sent out now, there should be a progressive strengthening of the force as a reward for consecutive daily victories.
Consecutive victory rewards (all would come with the standard - and completely pointless - fighter escort):
1 Day: One Trident
2 Days: Two Tridents
3 Days: Four Tridents + Teradon
4 Days: Four Tridents + Teradon + Connie
5 Days: Four Tridents + Teradon + Connie + HAC

Make them progressively more aggressive as well- particularly the currently completly pointless -fighter escort!
yeah that's a whole other thing -- the ai completely blows. I've lost all hope of that improving though.
The only thing that makes these blockades worth a damn is the turrets on the capships.

+1 for all.....
Blockades would be awesome if those fighter escorts were super aggressive
agreed, actually aggressive fighters would be a vast improvement
I've heard (from filing a support ticket and getting a response) that the bot system is too rickety and terrible to actually do anything useful like "fight players" though
And now that I've made this public statement the only way to prove me wrong would be to fix it.

There's already some rhyme and reason to what types of capships get sent.
+1 to adding HACs in to the mix.
+9 to fix the damn fighters.

1) blocades are stupid if the nation that's bein blocaded is not sending a counter attack.
2) fighters ambush should be placed at random wh location on the grey road from ukari to edras (on fighter skirmish issue for example)
3) nation should patrol nearby grey sectors: ukari for serco, edras for itani (hence call for counter attack if a blocade is bein' detected) then ye can take different missions at the blocaded nation station (break blocade, send courrier, smuggle stuff. A mission to support the blocade with specific goals could be available from the blocadin' nation stations)

Yeah but we need new ship designs if they are going to improve the AI and patrol grey sectors. Along those lines, the backstory should receive a new chapter outlining the increased role fresh flowers serve in the BioCom economic structure.
And fresh flowers should receive a CU bump to 3cu, who are the devs trying to kid, those are big fucking flowers!

What we really need are two categories of flowers, you'd have the flash-frozen ones that take up the regular amount of space but don't last more than two weeks, and self-sustaining fully-hydroponic flower widgets that take up more space. Then you'd need to distinguish between types of flowers, because roses would clearly be worth more than carnations and daffodils, for instance, but that can wait until 2.0.
Using rigid flower classifications is too shortsighted. They should instead store a genetic code defining various parameters (coloration, size, petal count, toxicity, odor, mobility, etc.). A breeding system would need to be implemented to permit creating new strains. Each faction would then have a set of definitions identifying traits that they particularly value. Those definitions would be combined with a separate malleable layer that represents current galactic fashion which gradually changes over time, in order to compute the level of demand for any particular flower.
+1 lol
