Special auction house
Threads like this have been made before, but I wanted to bring the topic up once again since I love this idea so much.
Sedina H-5 has the unusable station surrounded by a race track. I haven't been there in a while, so I'm not sure if it still exists.
Turn it into an auction house. Anything you deliver there, you can sell, including ships. Have a starting price and let others bid on it until it ends. You can also ask a firm price. Surround the station by heavy guarding, such as tons of turrets at the jump points that drain energy as well as dealing damage to deter attacks. (Once you jump, you're on your own though). Multiple NPCs with various ships patrolling and maybe a connie or a couple of dents for added safety should be there.

-1 Player to player trade should not be designed at some out of the way station / system from where players want / need to engage in transactions. +1 as a feature working in concert with a decent player to player trade system.
This is a great idea, except for the carebear special magic defenses. The station should be just as it is now, derelict, and anyone coming to drop off for sale or buy runs the risk inherent in hauling valuable stuff to or from an unmonitored, uncontrolled location.

+1 to Lecter and -1 to restricting it to only one station.
+1 to the idea as a whole. I don't care whether the space has some super defense, just bring this in. In my opinion it's one of the most important things the game lacks gameplay wise.
