Very cool on the power drain mines. Though their explosions leave, shall we say, more to be desired.
I was wondering if it's possible to make contact with multiple mines have a cumulative effect on your energy supply -- in other words creating a bank of negative energy that your powercell must overcome.
So if you hit two mines, your powercell is trying to overcome a 500 energy drain. So if you had a fast charge, your powercell would sit at zero for as long as it would take to charge up the missing 250, and then charge up the remaining 250 normally.
It would then follow that you could lay 42 mines in a clump and the resulting drain would effect a Fast Charge cell powered ship with something like a 3-4 minute period of zero energy.
Also, the cumulative effect would make these WAY more useful in pvp situations.

Ok, that's basically a totally new concept in battery depletion. It would be possible, but it has some complexities. We would have to implement it on both the client and the server, and pass the data over the network, to prevent cheating.
It would probably take a bit of time to implement and test properly. But it's possible.

Yeah this would be aweeesome
obviously I don't know the mechanics and coding involved in the drain weapons, but in my mind this cumulative idea isn't that much different than trying to fully charge a Charged Cannon when you don't have enough energy left in your cell. Your cell just flutters around 3/4/5/6 as the charged cannon continues to charge until it reaches capacity.
It could be the same thing with the mines.... (fluttering around zero until the residual powerdrain negative charge meets that of the capacity of the cell).

Or ya know, you could just implement the l-mine style ones which would be tons easier and just as useful.

No. for good factions and players you change would be amazing. but think like a pirate. Greenwall you mined B8. It took me 20-30 secs to jump out. If you make that time higher any trader would be killed before they could jump out of the sector or to another system. Think about it, anyone in a moth or an XC is dead! 2 mines dead. You would change the whole balance of the universe with this one change.
This in a new item. I say give it a little awhile before you mess with it.

I'm not a pirate! :)
Even with mine persistency and 42 mines per sector, it's still really difficult to mine a wormhole with any success.
I agree it would make things more difficult for traders....

Sorry I was not implying you were a pie-rat Greenwall.
But i hope you can see how your change would be horrible for traders.

Who cares if traders are insta-killed, greyspace is dangerous, full of rats. It's the traders' fault for going there.

If you're a trader and dying in grey space, quite whining and slap some prox mines on you incompetent twit
JESTITTIES YOU ARE A NINNNNNIE THAT IS ALL.
Basically, making the mines push your powcell into NEGATIVE ENERGY.
yes! yesss!!!
I was also suggesting an implementation: make it possible for energy to go negative. Then you could have drain mines do that.
Traders aren't dying in grey space. The pirates hunt UIT.
It would have to be renamed, since 'drain mine' employees it's draining something. You can't then have less than none of it.
It can just put drain on your ship for later.
"for later" - what the hell does that mean? Delayed drain? That makes no sense AT ALL. What are you using? I want some of it. It's apparently very potent.
Negative energy is a really peabrained concept as well. Nothing can get more empty than empty. Vacuum is vacuum.

From a gameplay perspective it's a very cool idea that your peasized brain clearly can't comprehend.
However this:
It would probably take a bit of time to implement and test properly.
...means it will never happen. So lets just file this and move on.
