Trade Agent

Imagine if you will, a web interface, it's purpose is to allow an account holder to add a limited number of trade offerings of limited scope to a limited set of stations.

An example will help me explain...

I sign into my VO account on the website and go to the 'Trade Agent' menu selection. I choose one of my characters. I choose 'add a trade deal' or some better name. I choose station helios b14, I select that I want to buy heliocene at 2,000 credits per cu, maximum of 10,000 units. (deals could be selling stuff too, or trade one good for another at a specified ratio)

People entering that station will see an additional mission under trade missions, offering to accept heliocene ore with a pay out of 2,000 credits per cu. It would be marked as a deal from 'character name' so that people that hate me will know who benefits from the mission. If the player performs the mission I get the ore in my inventory and they are paid from my credits.

Logistics:

I think the interface can be mostly stolen from the pcc editor, scaled way back though. I'd recommend limiting the number of locations that deals are offered at to one per character, like a personal base of operations.

This idea came to me because I like trade between players but there is often nobody to trade with. This could make it easier, and still be good to have when the player-base is larger. Players will still have to move the stuff they accumulate.

All joking aside, this is a neat idea.

Additional thoughts...

Station inventory limits will prevent a 'set and forget' style of usage.

Like proc missions, one would have to enter the station with the mission active with the goods in the cargo hold to sell to the mission.

If a delivery triggered station storage maximum then the mission would no longer show up in the offerings. This is to prevent a long list of dead missions.

The web interface would provide no inventory information or anything, player must go in-game to see how it's doing.

Originally I had thought that Lite subscriptions should not have this function but maybe at first roll-out they should, because of low player numbers. Can be changed in the future.

Maybe the location restriction should be two or three stations instead one one, again because of low numbers of players. Can be adjusted over time. Maybe there would be an office rental fee at each station, kind of like storage rental, for each station where you want to have a trade agent. Or an agent salary or retainer. The agent is an npc that doesn't have to actually exist :)

many good ideas

While I'm in support of the concept, I disagree with the suggested implementation, especially from the perspective of it not requiring you to actually travel to the station in question. These types of things should be kept to ingame.

@ draugath: I'm not opposed to a completely in-game interface, I was just suggesting it this way because I thought it would be easier for the devs.

I think this idea is great. As a mission creator I would like to see who helped complete the mission. Also maybe be able to see how much, like if George Clooney gives me 50 heliocene and Danny Elfman gives me 3000.
