mining,crafting,market and systems
Hi.Sorry for my english I do my best.
I played the 8 hours of trial time.
I like the game but I'm not sure I would pay for the game per month maybe I will, but I don't know yet.
Anyway,I want to tell you (to developers,I hope they read this) what is the problem with the game in my opinion and what I suggest to change.
In my opinion the problem with the game is that,it feels like a single player game.It feels like, because I don't feel the community around me.
The chat most of the times is dead, nobody write.
If I want to sell something,I can sell to NPC any quantity, anything
If I want to buy something I can buy from NPC any quantity, anything
Nobody mining. In 8 hours I passed throgh many systems and sectors but I have never seen anybody do mining only me.
It feels like,I play the game on my own.But I like it,I would pay 10-20 USD to play it offline as a single player game.
But as an MMO game I'm not sure I would pay monthly 10 USD because "it feels like a single player game".
But very good game.
My suggestion is that to change the mining, crafting and market system in the game.Make a player, community driven market, universe.
What does it mean?
That means no player to NPC market, only player to player global or maybe local, system market.
If I want to buy something,an other player need to,craft it and sell it,if nobody carft it and sell it at the moment or in the system but I need it,I need to craft it myself or need to "order it" and maybe somebody going to craft it and sell it on the market. If I want to craft,I need to mine the minerals myself or buy it from other players. If I want to sell something,an other player need to buy it.If nobody want to buy it,I can't sell it or need to lower the price.
No fixed prices, the players set the prices also.
Of course to protect new starters,we can keep NPC's to buy from NPC low level ships, addons at fixed price.
But for minerals and high level, advanced ships, addons,no NPC market to buy and sell anything, any quantity.
Only player to player market and the quantity, price depends on searchrequest.
I know,Vendetta Online is about space fight insted of market and business.
But it don't have to change only to supplement
Vendetta Onlyne already has a very good mining, crafting and market system, only need to change it,need to forget the NPC's,and open a global player to player market only.
A player driven market, universe could fill the game with the "voice" of the community (with more miners = more "life"),and the new starters, trial gamers (like me) could "feel" better the community around them. Also could bring players to the game who's not interested in fight but business, mining, crafting.
The game already has mining, crafting, market system only need to change it...But I'm not an advanced programmer,I don't know how difficult could be to change it but that would be nice to happen :P
I'm sure many EVE Online player would join the game also.EVE Online is very popular but very slow.
Slow mining, slow crafting, slow market, slow fight, slow time based skill system, slow travelling.Everything is so slow in EVE Online and no customization on ships and deep backstory. In my opinion EVE Online is boring but succesfull, very popular because it gives a huge freedom a lot of possibilities to space lovers. Not only fight, also something to fight for:new systems, market, planets, stations, resources.
Everything controlled, owned by players, this is the reason why EVE successful even if it boring.Beacause it is boring in short period. If you want to jump in only 1-2 hours to play, all you can do is click on one button and wait 1-2 hours or longer, sometime weeks, months for the process to finish.LOL
Vendetta Online is not boring,it full of action, good fun, cool story,I like it and I would pay for it as a single player game but maybe I'm going to pay 1-3 months subscribtion because I'm enjoy it at the moment but no longer then 3 months for sure.As a subscribtion based continously developed MMO need bigger freedom, more possibilities in my opinion. And the easyest way to make more possibilities if you make the universe, market player driven.
Also more systems to explore could be nice.
Addons (scanners) to discover new wormholes and new (hidden) systems on the other side of the wormholes.
New type of minerals in new systems.
new missions with new systems
New type of minerals = new type of weapons, ships, technology in the universe, reason to explore, reason to go forth.
And maybe player operated stations, let players to build and controll stations in new systems?....
I know only 4 peoples develop the game and the entire engine behind the game, but what I mean is that to let the Players to controll the universe the market and let the players to write the story of Vendetta Online. In long term it sounds less "work" in development and more fun to play, also more social.
Think about it.
Thanks.

I was about to mock newbies that play eight hours and think they know everything...
Then I realized, he's got a point, even if he grossly overestimates the devs' ability to implement stuff.

Good observations.
newbs often see very well ... then leave
+1 to a player driven economy

Subscriptions are viewed by many as an outdated business model. Chris Roberts promises once off permanent access to his persistent universe with microtransactions and 'pay to win' and all the vets that yell and scream against the implementation of that model for VO sign up like it's going out of style.
Subscription on android apps is a bad market proposition, VO needs to move into the F2P/Microtransaction model to succeed as a consumer product so people like the OP will stick around long enough to discover what sets it apart from other games.

This is "Vendetta Online". Not "Mall of America Online". Not "Vending Machine Online". Not "Stupid Hats Online". So take your microtransactions this and your free-to-play that, and you can line them up and throw them overboard.
Free2play is a bad idea. Buy2play, maybe.
A subscription that only ticks down when you're in game, though....that I can get behind.
+1 to the OP though.

No at the moment it's "Nobody can have a Vendetta because nobody's ever Online"
Hyperbole. I ran into plenty of people tonight. And for a change of pace, I ran from one of them. He tracked me down later, stole my kill, and finished me off with flares before I could get turned around. So yeah, that was a vendetta, and it was online.
Well i'm so glad that *you* ran into somebody. Meanwhile those of us from outside the USA come online and traverse 8 systems without finding somebody. Your anti F2P post and trivialization of the model contained *much* more hyperbole than my post did.
Way to threadjack. If you feel lonely, Esp, do some advertising in your community. Stick up a poster or something. F2P + microtransactions is just going to look like a scam and drive away the vets that support this game.
+1 player driven economy, however infeasible it is to the devs at the moment. Stick it up a notch on the priorities, inc? ;)

as I said many times, VO is a MMORPG that avoids multiplayer activites, player gathering...
Some improvements already proposed many times by many people:
-Add event/multiplayer support to PCC
-Add periodic micro-Events, with opposing forces, as main multiplayer tool
-Add MANY items not sold by any station, only P2P (drops, manufacture, mission rewards)
-Player/Guild shops/booths/Point-of-Sale
-Group/Guild-aimed content (not exclusive, but aimed at groups as Trident manufacture became)
And since I don't mind about being flamed, I'd like to see Vendetta improve again, and adopt more than one paying model, like keeping monthly subs as now, for full content, and ALSO a F2P limited option with microtransactions support (Purchase ingame stuff with real dollars).
On limited F2P, we can have a single-life mode, or play only as Hive rogue bot, or pirate without bank account, so on... options exist, but wish to change... and VO remains mostly a singleplayer game in an empty multiplayer universe...

I see plenty of players whenever I am online. If you want to see more players try sticking to grey space or UIT space. Also, people are always chatting. Try typing /j 100. There are many Guilds you can join that will make this more of a multiplayer experience for you. [Itan] for Itani military action, [BR1] and [RED] for Serco military action, [TRI] for manufacturing, [TGFT] for trading and manufacturing, [ORE] for mining, [FAMY], [@x], [LAW] for acts of piracy. Plus more. There is also a demand for player created, mined, farmed items as well. Ores, SSS, and other items are often bought by other players. As well as Trident parts, Avalons, Queen drops, etc.
I do +1 you for new drops like rare weapons and or ship technology.
I guess my suggestion for you is to join a guild so you can have more of a multiplayer experience.

OP: Not only fight, also something to fight for:new systems, market, planets, stations, resources.

--------------------------------------------
Yes, that's a good point.
I also tried EVE... and wasn't able to finish the 14 day trial... too slow, too boring, and all the input is done throw list, sheets and menus. Don't feel like piloting.
But having content designed to be fight for, by groups, is one of their keys to success.
I'm still a newbie, too, and didn't tryed everything the game has. But already discovered some rare few stuff that goes on that direction. Capital ships crafting, greyspace mining/trading, and Deneb war.
I decided to engage this Deneb War, and will look into Guilds focused on that.
And hope that someday, something is really designed to be done by Guilds, something that's worth spending most of my play time focused on it, w/o need to be incorpored by a RPG imaginary behaviour.
Even if the stuff, makes we players to be like ants building an anthill. All of them doing their individual job, to have a better and bigger anthill than everyone around.
------------------------
About Player-Driven Market... I don't know any Vendetta player that is against the idea.
I'd sugest that, whenever our dev's grab some extra cash, and decide to invest it on the game... Consider hiring some specialist in MMO market as a consultant, for this task.
------------------------
About stations, I'm sure there are plenty of other threads about it. But, just as a possibility, these player-made structures, could be like a Mobile Factory. Players can mount it in some place, for some pourpose, and then unmount it and transport back to a big NPC station. This process should have some cost, and some risk, besides the possible advantages.
------------------------
For the OP, i'd sugest to ask in-game or in-forum for a 14-day trial extend. I got one, but almost didn't used it because of some extra work that appeared in that period.
But then, after making a big post, somewhat similar to yours, a player posted a 10 items list of stuff that caused players to engage PvP activity. And Blue Vs Red was only one of those items. That motivated me to subscript and know better the game.
Afterall, $10/month is a lot cheaper then all other F2P games. They shouldn't be called F2P, but F2T: Free-to-Try for as long as you want. Because it's almost impossible not to spend some cash on games you really like.

Alloh, Esp, if you wanna buy stuff with real money, go to the store and buy real stuff. Virtual goods in a game should be bought with virtual money earned in said game. Anything else is simply cheating.
The "free to play is better!"/"subscriptions are better!" debate has been done thoroughly before, and belongs in another thread. Just my opinion. There is a substantial one here. I think ddabrahim's post is mainly about ways to bring players together early on in the game, making it feel more "alive", and fleshing out the economy.
Welcome to the game, I certainly hope you stay. Joining a guild is a great way to get involved.

Not to thread hijack, but spring boarding off of Phaserlight's comment, a stronger use and presence of npc's would go a long way in filling the void. This is one of my 'demo' areas. I'd like to see faction npc's actively mining, generic traffic as well as some form or the old npc pirates on occasion. Arriving at a station should bloody well 'feel' like you've arrived at the hub of activity. Add dialogue options to them as well.
This is an area that I think would produce a better 'feel' or 'immersion' for players where the infrastructure pretty much already exists and shouldn't consume significant resources to implement- and could be added incrementally as development time permits. I could be wrong. I usually am.
It doesn't address fundamental challenges, but I would recommend this even if all of my other development wishes were already fulfilled since I think it would create a better atmosphere.

Maybe GS could just poach Blizzard's RMAH idea.
Oh, wait. There's not a goddamn thing in VO anyone really finds special enough to want.
