Player and NPC capital ships should have integrated large storm radar.
These ships are huge and have big sensor arrays. It only makes sense that they would have radars capable of seeing 2000m+ in a storm.
This should be for the pilot and any gunners on board.

+1
+ shared group radar extender for player capships
aye, even a trident given it's size should have much greater resources at hand compared to a single person fighter. try comparing a pt boat to an oliver hazard perry frigate, both are ocean going vessels, but the options availible to the frigate are in comparison, massive. Hell I think they should even have some level of auto repair, not fast repair, but enough to eventually get the job done (20-30 minutes from nearly dead).
The tridents should also be better armed, more numerious agt turrets, maybe 5 or 6 with a max range of 200 meters, (just make the projectiles time out). Also the ability to use up both upper turrets to mount one BIG gun would be cool, maybe a super massive rail gun (50-100k damage/shot) foward fireing only (like the big gun on the teredons)

Yes, because it makes sense that Earthbound man can detect faint radar emissions thousands of lightyears away, future man is limited to 5 kilometers, unless it's cloudy.
Not one of your better efforts, Tumble.
You overstate our capabilities. We can detect incredibly powerful emissions (e.g. an entire galaxy) from thousands of lightyears away, not faint ones. We cannot even directly detect planet-sized objects only a few lightyears away, last I checked. We only locate extra-solar planets indirectly.
But yeah, if this were reality we'd be able to detect other ships at least hundreds of kilometers away, even from a light fighter. Something trident-sized could see for at least thousands of kilometers. Stations and connies could see millions of kilometers.
Doesn't mean it's a good idea to treat it that way in a game. And, this being the future and all, we may well have developed counters to traditional methods of detection. We have energy shields and warp drives for Pete's sake.

Heavy Storm Rader Extender and Shared Group Radar Extender both added to default abilities of Trident Type M tonight.
Excellent. Does this extend to gunners as well?
Uhh. Honestly.. I don't know? The shared radar should be anyone in the group, regardless of ship or gunner. I would think anyhow. Please let us know how it works in practice :).
