in-station trading
I'm sure someone has thought of this before...
A tab in the bar or commerce section that allows funds-for-stuff exchanges, in station, between players.

No. You goes outside and you takes yer chances. Last thing VO needs is fewer opportunities for player interaction.
strat - nope. I mean like you and me in D-14, I offer you X cu of merchandise, we argue over the price, then conclude the transaction with your funds coming to me and my goods going from my station hold to your station hold. I would obviously have the goods in station, and you'd be solvent enough to buy it. The station interface would only verify we both agree to the trade and make the transfer(s).
lecterissimo - Last thing VO needs is fewer opportunities for player interaction. Exactly.

Kinda like this?

At any rate, seriously long over due. As an aside, this doesn't create less interaction. It simply adds a new type of interaction. As was pointed out in a different thread on the same subject...
"If you're worried about not getting shot at or not having the option of shooting at people who are trading, there is still the whole trip from point A to point B where you can chase them down, demand a ransom and or fire on them/destroy them."
So, really this idea includes all the typical interactions and risks of current trading and adds a new interaction. Besides, the quicker a transaction is over... the quicker the trader is back out in space and ready to be shot.

+1 to P2P trade!
I agree with lecter on this, you should have to transfer cargo and such outside a station by jettison and pick-up.
That may be how you and lecter buy your CDs and DVDs, but as far as gaming goes... it's an oversight that has a slim claim to being a 'feature'.
Unless the feature is Down Syndrome, it does not even have a slim claim.
If it was possible to attack and take over a station, this would be fine -- maybe it could be implemented in conquerable stations.
But in the real world, there are no truly secure exchanges of goods; everything is open to being attacked and looted if the pirate has the right timing and firepower. Likewise, allowing players to securely transact exchanges inside invulnerable stations would violate a basic principle, which is otherwise present in all VO contexts:
You Are Never Safe.
Realistic? No, not really. Good for gameplay? More or less. If you want to give 200cus of Heliocene to someone else, you're going to have to think it through. If you want to buy a unique item (NSI? Joyce Sanders stasis pod? Anyone remember these?), you'll have to exchange it out where something can go wrong.

Common goods should be exchangeable in station. Unique widgets (of which few of you n00bs probably have ever seen) should require direct transfer.
Conquered stations should hand off any and all goods currently inside. It's ridiculous that a group can take over a station and the previous group's crap is safely locked away for later. Of course we all know that will never happen, because it would piss off the ninnehs.

Lecter, speaking as a guy who moves specialized items/weapons from everywhere to Sedina. I assure you this doesn't make it safer. I have never lost a load of LENBs or UCs outside a station or on delivery. The only time I've ever lost any cargoes, is en route.
The entire trip is still there to encompass risk. Hell if this were implemented it could actually draw traders to Gray... assuming they let the idea of making money draw them out of nation space... (where they make money hand over fist with nearly no risk what so ever.).

I'll see Imp's bet and raise him a "only trade goods are exchangeable in station" -- all unique items, mined ores, and ship equipment must be transfered outside in the cold.
RR, that you've been lucky is nice for you. I've blown plenty of people trying to swap goods, ores, and weapons/UCs all to Hell while they were playing shuttle-moth.

I can deal with Imps idea that what you can buy at any station can be transfered in station and that unique items must be transfered out of stations... as there could be some RP type of explanation for it.
A simple check in sector list shows if is it safe or not do deal outside. I've bartered stuff since I was a complete newbie, and totally safe when above measure was done!
So, this is a space trade-mine-combat where only combat is expected to be done between players?
Not only I like to see in-station trading, but also consider that each player who gets license TradeN [10?] should be offered to run a shop in his home station!
