Serco Beachhead in Deneb

Jul 19, 2010 ErisGagarin link
Proposing a a big event to happen:

-Serco invades Deneb and build a beachead: A station at Deneb B12.

The 1st nationally conquerable one, its keys are nation-wide.

Since it is a such important event in war, nation-owned stations only can be conquered by military pilots taking a scheduled mission.

This probably makes easier to implementat relating to sector conquering skirmishes also. Then that mission can be offered once a week and only to winning side of Deneb's BS. And a defense mission offered to loser.

During Beta stage, to 'reset' ownership, devs send a bot fleet and conquer it. Even kick all players in sector

ALTERNATIVES: Serco forces conquers Aeron's Patience, I-12, and it becomes a Conquerable station. Or simply make I-12 conquerable and offer a conquest mission in GR (every 2 hours).

After having one station working as beta test, make other stations conquerable also!

Since Deneb seems already a big Beta system, let's try a nation-conquerable station there ASAP! When conquered give station key to whole nation, same mechanics as now, but start with a Serco one in Deneb.

Create a back story relating that stations are protected under some war convention and can't be destroyed, only conquered.

That explains why once its defenses are depleted, whoever docks with station becomes its owner, since no gunfight is allowed inside stations, never! Once external defenses are gone, they have no option but surrender, so preserving station's integrity.

Also, same convention states that hibernating pilots and ressurecting clones are allowed to leave once they wake inside a station captured by the enemy. But only on 1st time they ressurect they have a safe pass if he does not shoot any weapon.

*Writing this while tired and without proper thought*

If the station created in b12 is conquerable, then another station should be made conquerable in serco space. But can only be held by itani if they hold the b-12 station also. RP wise it could be the akanese that first take the serco station opening it up for the rest of the itani military to capture.

+1 to both ideas.

Goujian: as far as I know, the Itani are fighting defense (hence the IDF in the capship names), and generally want the Serco to stop interrupting their meditations. The Akanese, on the other hand, are not condoned by the Itani populace who are trying not to incite the Serco. So the Itani would not try to take GR.

+1 to OP, though

+1 to everything except...

"stations are protected under some war convention and can't be destroyed, only conquered."

That gets a big huge -1. We need to move towards stations that can be destroyed. Obviously it would require a huge effort, and will not happen soon, but it needs to happen.

Ryan, that makes sense to justify why enemies tries to conquest a station instead of destroying it, and why there's no 'space station quake' and no requirement for a space marines platoon to take station by force.

Goujian, Serco is trying to conquest Deneb, so frontlines are there. In short term, all battles should be there. To keep balance, after beta stage, the Itani stations should become conquerable.

Makes sense in a war effort the frontline, so Fleet Admiralty choose which station should be attacked. Justifies the mission requirement.

With this upgrade and the War News webpage I bet that Dened will see much more traffic...

We need to be able to build stations at the same time we receive the option to destroy them. THAT will take a while. Keep it so it can only be conquered for now, but use it as a beta for destroying/building in the future.

I would put the station in I-12, because its still beta we don't want to mess up a wormhole sector.

As for the backstory thing, make it so that destroying stations was considered taboo ever since blah station was destroyed and millions of innocents were killed...
