Wormhole Destabilizer

While engaged, this device stops all traffic from being able to enter the wormhole on the side that it is being engaged (only works in one direction). The device can only be engaged while the ship equipping it is within the jump radius of the WH.

Statistics:
Drain: 65/s (for a max of 27.5s engaged using a heavy battery)
Mass: 2000kg
Delay: 60s
Grid: 14
Port: Large

Pilots attempting to enter the WH while the device is engaged would receive a message akin to: "Cannot jump! Wormhole is being destabilized by <Playername>!" NPCs who encounter a blocked wormhole will mark the player blocking as KOS and behave accordingly.

While the destabilizer is engaged, the WH symbol on the HUD would turn Black (or <insert Dev's favorite indicating color here>) to indicate that it is being blocked.

Sold by Valent. Requires +800 to manufacture.

Manufacturing requirements:
• 1 Leviathan Production Core, Leviathan Genetic Core, Leviathan Decision core, OR Leviathan Defense Core
• 2 Queen Defense Matrix cores
• 3 Superconductors
• 5 Cooling Systems
• 2 Phase Arrays
• 1 Radiation Containment Kit
• 4 Stabilizing Systems
• 15 Xang Xi Advanced Robotics
• 25,000cr to offset manufacturing costs

Edit: requires fewer cores now, and requires other things to make it. Don't get me wrong, though, this thing SHOULD be rare.

I dislike the use of Levi cores, especially more than 1. It's a good idea, all and all, though, and Valent could certainly use some love.

But you cant build a WH Stopper with just cores.

I still see this being seriously abused.

Any ways, I think it would be less abuse prone if it were a rocket or mine of some type. Launcher holds one or two, it has a low range... say enough fuel to cover 200m meters before detonation. Requires a full heavy battery charge to fire and costs upwards of one million to reload.

Don't get me wrong... I REALLY REALLY REALLY like the idea, but it just has so much potential to be abused/exploited.

Ehh, better, but It still needs MORE parts too.

Aye, ore and electronics, some plating/xi-rite and robotics, power regulators, etc.

I agree with the levi core idea. They aren't used for anything at all. Maybe make it so it requires 2 of any type of levi core? The RP could be: Valent disassembles and reassembles the cores to procure the neccesary robotics. More queen cores, too, and please specify which type (defence matrix or processor core).

If we were to make it a mine or some sort of launcher, I'd say a single shot would be sufficient, with an expensive reload. If a biocom mine requires 1,000,000c to reload, a wormhole destabilizer...

Construction list is a go.

+1 now, and keep the levi cores to 1 plz.

As for reloading vs recharging... the thing is annoying enough to make that it should be at least somewhat useful :). I mean, if it worked for only 7 seconds and then the guy had to go reload it? No one would use it.

However, I'm upping the delay to compensate for apparent imbalance.

I'd say make it work for 30 minutes one launched... (a lot can happen in 30 minutes.).

QDMs and Levi drops for something that works for 7.33 seconds at a time?

How many hours would it take to accumulate the bot drops?

Why not have them made at conquerable stations?

It's enough for you to shut it down while your buddy kills the target.

I would expect to see this mounted on a greyhound.

I'd say keep it an energy weapon, with the following stats:

Mass: 2,000kgs
Drain: 60/sec (36.67 seconds on a heavy cell, 25 with fast charge)
Delay: 30s
Grid: 14

I agree with Maalik, with the stats on the OP it isn't worth it. I strongly disagree with something as long as 30 minutes.

New stats:

Drain: 65/s (for a max of 27.5s engaged using a heavy battery)
Delay: 60s

The reason for the long delay is it shouldn't be able to tag-team indefinitely. There should be at least 3 people to keep a WH locked down ad-infinitum.

make max ship speed something like 25m/s when it's in use with a bright icon on the radar/HUD. Then it'll be interesting.

I think I'll leave that one to a new thread and new wep idea. While interesting... I don't think it's that relevant here. Don't get me wrong though, tis a fun idea :D.

lol...RR said 30 minutes. I can although already see this being a problem with the voy AI(assuming it is used against voys but that would seem to be likely of happening). It does sound pretty interesting though. All said, if something of the sort is possible +1.

I think it should take 2 people within jumping range unable to do anything else to use this device. You would have to have 3 people, 2 to disrupt, 1 to move in for the kill. The disruption should not last long at all either, maybe 30-60 seconds.

HOWEVER, my only problem with this is:
Some people are going to want to be jerks (thinking they're funny) and constantly block wormholes, backing up npc traffic and pissing people off. Why not just the warp disruptor that you use on a ship instead of the wormhole?
May 04, 2010 peytros link
yeah cause you know blocking wh deffenitly wouldn't be considered a hostile act by the npc escorts. Really armonia use your brain.

Adding to OP to avoid further confusion.

It looks nice. +1 as is at the current moment.

"Why not just the warp disruptor that you use on a ship instead of the wormhole?"

+1, less chance of abuse.
