New Weapons Ideas
As a follow up, here are some ideas off the top of my head:
1) Behemoth-only weapons for traders which are more powerful that what is currently available, as a means to improve defense. I appreciate the turret idea, but, while cool, is not practical. Turret switching is not smooth (should be done with a key press) and current turrets available do little, if nothing, to prevent an assault from a reasonably good player.
2) Color/projectile changes in alternate versions (mkI looks different from mkii, etc)
3) Non-behemoth-only weapons, not meant as a counter to number 1, but as a logical extension of the idea that weapons might only be mounted on certain ships.
4) If any new weapons come out, please put new sounds on them!
5) Seeking energy weapons.
6) Faster, but lower damage missiles.
7) Two-stage and/or controllable-flight weapons: detonations can be controlled or trajectory can be piloted.
Some specific weapons ideas:
Missiles:
-Rail-Bomb: non-seeking, wide-proximity detonation results in typical damage plus dispersion of rail rounds in a spherical fashion.
Projectile:
-A spread weapon similar to flechette with ore-based ammo (as in the ore you carry as cargo), a very high-force, but low damage weapon, to be used by miners as a deterrent. Weapon doesn't function unless you have ore in your hold, force is constant (not varying by ore type).
Energy:
-Pulse weapon whose projectile gets larger, though weaker, as it travels
-Seeking energy weapon as mentioned above
Mines:
-Rail-mine (like the missile mentioned above, in a mine version)

why is this two different threads?
because they are two different topics, albeit related: 1) general request for new weapons; 2) suggestions for new weapons. Hopefully that clears it up for you. If you have future difficulty, please see your mother. ;)
