So currently getting enough mentor points to buy Ultra Charge Power Cells is extremely difficult. So much so that the wiki advises against trying to do it, counseling instead to ask other players who can buy them for you. While this suggestion won't make it all that much easier to do, it will help some. Instead of requiring any char on your account to have 40 good mentor ratings to buy UCs, I suggest that UCs be purchasable when you have 40 good mentor ratings ACROSS your account. Now, some would argue that this would make discovering alts too easy, but there's a way around that. Instead of giving the Gold Mentor Badge to all the chars on that account, just let them buy UCs. Give them the benefit without the medal. If any one of them gets up to 40 ratings on a single character, they would then get the badge, but being able to buy UCs isn't something you can tell just by looking at someone. It would be up to the person in question whether or not to let others know they could buy UCs, and thus the status of their alts would be kept secret.

thats like saying as soon as you get prospecting badge all alts can buy HD's/levels etc. alts have to do the work themselves, though if you use alts to mentor and not just your main char, how about if you get a point it goes to your main char or summin, again it seems silly but thats just my opinion....

I've been saying for a while now that every badge should be account-wide. If I start an alt, he looks pathetic- which is a perfect cover for the hardened PvP machine within me. There is no need for my total to be visible everywhere, but the badge ought to be.

Well, it wouldn't make any contextual sense to let all chars on an account buy HDs etc if one does the Prospecting Missions. Those missions are a clearly in-context way of earning that ability. Mentoring, on the other hand, while it possesses some in-context elements, it is mainly there to encourage older players to help out newer players. It is more tied to a player than it is to a character. And currently the simplest way of doing it is to cheat, to do it using a bunch of trial accounts. And people do that because otherwise it takes a huge investment of time and energy, limited to one character, with benefits that, frankly, aren't terribly useful until you get the Gold (the money bonus is more useful for traders, it's true, but it's still not much). Now, I'm not saying that we should make it a breeze to do, it should be something that requires a lot of effort, proving that you're very willing to help. But I'm willing to help on ALL my characters. I have mentor points sprinkled about. I'm not going to switch chars and fly up to who knows where to help a new player just to get those mentor points all in one place, that's ridiculous to expect, and it's also not fair to the new players. As it is it's far easier to help someone out without getting a mentor point, and I think this would add enough of an incentive to convince more people to help out.

well fair point i was forgetting the fact u would use the alt closest to them, but it could still be looked at either way.. i guess it doesnt really matter since this method cant be exploited
