Raptor XZ-1 mid range fighter

No radar extender, it was stripped for additional weapons ports.
Due to poor sales of the Raptor and all subsequent varients. TPG engineers decided it was high time to do somesting drastic with the sleekest fighter they had. deciding it was time they made a fighter that could contend with Corvus Vultures, the Serco Prometheous and Itani Valkeries, the boldly stripped the radar extender and eliminated the cargo hold giving them room for more armor and two more weapons ports. they stepped back and began negotiations to replace the aging fleet of UIT Vultures...satisfied that should it ever be needed, UIT space finally had a fighter capable of defending its admitedly weak borders.

And if it did, it should happen to the WTD.
This is some frustrating stuff. Two consecutive posters wanting to strip the storm extender. The raptor was unused and meaningless until we got the devs to add one- it gave the ship a niche that no other ship could touch. I don't think any mod to the raptor that strips the extender is really worth looking at. But that might just be my opinion.
well i suppose that the extender removal is optional, just drop it from 4 to 3 ports. that might even be easier as its hard wired in.
my thing with the radar extender is I never use it, its neat to have but hitting u lets me know whos in the storm, and my fingers less than an inch from the targeting button. the raptor does fill a niche but you can just buy the radar extender for any ship. maybe if the thrust/speed/spin torque was upped a bit and the Raptor had 3 small ports, extender optional. or perhaps if the radar was always extended? or if, like every other ship it had some varients? the MKII, MKIII, MKIV...etc...etc...

Aye Lecter, please remove the sector list Devs. Or actually, it wouldn't even need to go- just remove all the out of radar range names from the display.

This is one of those things I totally agree with you on Lecter. It's bad enough that everyone knows you're a pie-rat, but then they announce it all over 100 and anyone who sees you in their sector gets involved and lets everyone else know via pms... etc. lets Gangkkk... etc.

the sector list is kind of a bad idea. in fairness to pirates it is an early warning system and in fairness to every one else, for a pirate the sector list acts like a dinner menu for pirates.
Actually, it was a great gauss and rocket platform back when the weapon ports were far apart. Rather than, you know, trying to compete with the Vulture and Centurion.
To be useful the Raptor needs to be almost as good as the non storm radar fighters. As it is a large ship improvement should be in thrust and speed mainly with a bit more maneuverability. We don't have turbo thrust ratings for ships currently but chat with designer indicated he had no problem with that being listed so once that is listed we could have better comparisons.
Vulture IV has .056 thrust to one unit mass kg normal thrust current Raptor .051. The X-1 has a .075 thrust to mass. The Sky Command Prometheus has a .059 As the Raptor is a top of line figher with less armor than the Vulutre IV it's thurst should be .076 (295 thurst) or higher unless armor increased. Max normal speed of 65 of course and max turbo of 225. The spin touque is high enough but does not seam to turn up in it's manuvors. But considering the Raptor's larger target size to the X-1 these improvements will still leave the Raptor weeker in normal fights as it should be but with changes it should rule ion storms.
The sector list is good idea it just should be limited to roughly double the ship's radar range in ion storm with only a total ship in system listing of other ships.
