Flechette Cannon MK III
I love flechettes...they're not too heavy, fire fast and can eat through a hull quite quickly.
We could call it the Advanced Flechette Cannon or Flechette Cannon MK III
I would like a revamp of flechette. Possibly raise the damage to 300-350 (where the amount of damage occured would be a random number between 300-350) increase the number of shots per second - .06 delay.....and decrease the energy usage to 5.0 -5.5 per shot.....but along this, decrease the range to 0-175 meters....so after 175, the shots would dissapate......
Possible requirements could be 8/9/-/-/-, 100-500 pks, Veteran Hive Hunter II-III and Hive Queen Hunter II-III
the reason for the harsh requirements are because this could become a very powerful fighter weapon.....very much so indeed......

That **** would make every goddamn cent-flying smurf a facehugger... they are annoying enough with laws or mk3s... but with THAT? oh snap...
id rather see one that actually fires several bolts at once, maybe 4, at 4X the energy drain, you couldn't fire for long but it'd be a real bastard to dodge.
Well, there could be two new variants, as I'd really like to have a maxed out version of what we have now........

There isn't really a gun that fires hard and fast, but with poor efficiency. The weapons with the highest DPS, tend to have the highest DPE. (Blasters.) Quadrupling the output of the flechette is a bit much, but perhaps they could each fire double blasts, single blasts at twice the speed, or at double damage and energy consumption, at the price of increased grid usage.

How-s about a largeport turret version of a flechette? Give it the auto-aim of the gatling turret and a very high rate of fire compensated with a high energy use and comparatively high mass, and short range.
What you get then is a gun to make getting close to a skyprom dangerous, but only if you cannot get behind it and stay there.

The mk2 is viable as is so must we add clutter and confusion?
I don't often post in suggestions, but I have to say I would like to see a powerful flechette variation - the sound, as remarked by others, would strike fear into people if it was likely to kill them quickly.
For this reason I'd like to see a good hike in damage dealt, and a small increase in range - however in the interests of:
i) not being a horribly unbalanced weapon and
ii) providing the best cat-scare by favouring surprise use
I'd suggest the weapon have no auto-aim and a big draw.

I think adding autoaim would make it quite the frightening weapon.....with heavier ships (Wart, Prom, Rag, Maud, Cent, Hornet) this would compensate for the slow turning rate associated with a heavier ship.

Isn't the gatling turret a large-P version of the flechette? How about just boost its specs so that ppl will consider using it. IMO, it simply sucks right now...
It'd be nice if the Gatling Cannon could hold a candle up to the MegaPosi.
