Proximity alert when flying in physics mode
there should be something that alerts you when you are going to crash against a large object like asteroids.
Its very annoying when fighting with physics mode and suddenly you crash against a roid which you didnt see coming, and then the enemy, be it a bot or a player, hits you easily.
So, it should be something like the beeping sound you hear when a homing missile is after you.
And the side of the screen where the object is, should light up. This could be toggled on/off if desired.
What da ya think?

Added to my Hud List.
Just to give an implementation idea, this could be multiple red targeting arrow that point that an asteroid, a station, anything that big but is not an entry dock. So if you turn in the direction of the arrow you'll see the big guy. Default the proximity alert to 30m so in fight we can have from .5s to 1s to react to the roids proximity.
Keep in mind that audible alert can be annoying with time. There is one in other game like "AceCombat" but the thing complain a lot in some mission where you need to lay low. By laying low I mean it's below 100 ft.
I think also this should be an all time active or not active at all system. A bit like the current ship proximity alert.

Well, there is a meter on you ship that will tell you how close the nearest barrier is, up to 3,000m. An audio proximity alert that worked on these objects instead of ships would be nice though.
For that matter, it'd be nice to see on one's HUD the nearest object preventing a jump. This is for two reasons. Obviously to help Shadeon from crashing into rocks, but also to quickly calculate the quickest exit vector while flying to 3000m.
Why not have an alert sound play when any object comes closer than 250m?
Because then when you got near a station your computer would start beeping so much that you'd think it was trying to tell you that it was about to explode. Stations aren't just a single large object, you know...
Right. Forgot about that.
I happen to enjoy running people into asteroids. People should pay attention, not fly backwards. :P
I thought of this because its annoying when fighting in physics mode and while your facing your opponent, you crash sideways against a roid and get temporarily stuck there as a nice target for the opponent.
It should someting like, for example:
If you are about to crash sideways from the right side of the ship, then the right side of the screen would kinda glow red. This would be toggable and activate at about 10-20m or so.

Hmm. Use the force. You will sense the asteroid before you are upon it.

Not all of us are itani with wierd mind powers. And so far, i think we serco still dont have integrated proximity sensors alert system :(
The UIT have. Get with the program already.
I agree with Martin on this, If you're dumb enough not to watch your surroundings during a fight, you damn well deserve the asteroid.
Its one of the great thrills to twist someone who likes to back up around and into a roid.

More Force, less HUD clutter!
Besides, I'm sure you could make this yourself with some clever Lua'ing!

I'm with Shape and Martin here. You have a "distance to nearest large object" meter right in the center of your hud, you also have a radar. If you fly into a roid while dogfighting it's pretty much your own fault.
