Suggestions for UI
Being a mac user, I really see ease of use in a UI as being a good thing. While mucking around in DOS/Terminal can be fun at times, it gets very time consuming, redundant, and inconvenient after a while. I know there are a lot of updates being done on the UI... but since we don't know what exactly is going to be added in there, I'd like to suggest a few things that would be a good idea.
I know all of this UI stuff hinges off of what kind of feel you want to give to the stations/ship computer... but here are a few suggestions that would make practical sense, as well as making running around the universe much easier. Some of these have been suggested before, but this is just a collage of them - in a combination I think would be fitting.
• While the current /navroute system works ok... it would really be a boost if you could add it in graphically into the navmap (buttons/etc.)
• Also for the navmap - when you click on a station sector, it would be nice if you could see a short list of the items you have at that station. Or maybe just the ships.
• I really think the mission computer needs a huge revamp. You could, for example, add another screen entirely for the mission comp - like the navmap. When you bring it up, it would automatically show you the basic info for that mission - where you're supposed to go, etc. You could go so far as to even add in some cool graphical effects. Lets say you take the basic combat practice mission... and you want to know what exactly it is that you're hunting. You bring up you mission comp, and click on one of the names of the bots on the list. A spinning 3-D model comes up (like when you buy a ship), and perhaps also some info of its stats - weapons used, approximate armor, suggestions for combat, etc.
There's a lot more that you've probably already seen suggested, but there are just a few that will hopefully help you out with creativity.

Pretty good, LeberMac! I was talking about in-flight UI though... I think thats really what needs to be developed atm.
