My suggestion about the recent *we cannot gank [insert bad word]* suggestion.
OK, I know a grapple/tractor beam has been suggested before, but how about this.
An EMP gun, fires much like a railgun, takes an L port, and has 5 to 10 ammo, if you hit your opponent, both you and him reduce to 0 speed, you cannot fire(anything), he cannot fire (anything), its not energy limited, but rather time limited, once hit both parties can not move/shoot for 1 miniute.

1 min!!! id say like 30 seconds you would get murdered with it and who would want to use it??????????
Only people that are chasing people like arolte, or me. As a group, bear in mind, you wouldnt want to use it solo.

Its a MMO, why would you want to be Solo ? Unless nobody likes you of course.
And of course this gun and my time disabled would need adjusting, doesnt everything ? :P

okay, the idea is cool, but I'd rather see it like my suggestion for charge / discharge cannon, like I suggested here:

I like the idea of an EMP type weapon, add more spice to the game, and yeah the actual stats would be something to be worked out, but

I like the idea, it would add more to the team work element. And it could be very fun for CtC.
i'd rather the EMP weapons had a blast radious centered on the firing ship (like the ones in The Matrix. That way it is a little less abusable as your teamates need to stay clear untill you pop the EMP.
then if powering down is ever implemented that could protect the firing ship from it's own EMP and make for some interesting ambush tactics.

This could work quite well with something I'm working on. I like it.

(this first bounty hunting group was to capture Fehdman Kassed, iirc)
But with the new system, although its not as easy for them to run to a station, its still easy for them to run in big circles (ask Lector, or any of the other 9 people who were ganking Arote yesterday). I would rather have the grapple hook that was suggeted so many moons ago, but it would be REALLY hard to impliment(as would any weapon that *links* 2 ships) - this way I have tried to think about *ease* of implimentation, im not saying this would be easy, but a lot easier than a tractor beam/grapple.

I'd put it on a hog (or something with a large port), get in clse range, drop an Lmine while firing this EMP gun. I bet Alamar could handle it, since he's sharp at shooting rails close-range.

Well we could always have an EMP mine. make it a pure trader weapon too so you like need trade 13 to get it. (Common the guys at 13 should get some thing good.)
It could be like a 5 sec stun and 100% bat drain on the victim.
(i.e. Rev C with Pinkbeard the pirate is going after Brownnose the trader in a moth. Pinkbeard gets hit with and EMP mine and is unable to move for 5 secs, then when he can move he has an empty batt.)
I think this would help traders alot with the new update as it would be made to help traders get out alive, and could not be abused to much incombat.

Hehe yeah I was thinking of guys like you and shape. Thats why I was thinking it should have a small prox, (50m) but a big blast radius. (Like 200m) That way the guy would have to be following you and you would have to be moving fast. (I.e. not in a fighter clinch)

I still think the EMP rail would be the easiest way to impliment this (note, I didnt say it would be easy)

I like the idea of yet another mine option, I just don't see an electromagnetic pulse coming out of something that fires like a sniperrifle, unless it were like an exploding round that detonated at a certain range after fire.
Regardless, the effect should have a definite sphere of influence, say minimum of 300m in all directions. I like the idea of it disabling your jump engines, loosing all control and puts you into a drift (turns FA off, if not already) AND draining your battery for a set time, 5 seconds sounds good.
