Clean out non-existing characters
When you look at the Duel page and the Guild page, there are many characters listed that are non-existant. I think these names need to be removed for various reasons:
1)So as not to confuse people. (Ex. "hmm, I wonder who he is, I've never seen him before...")
2)So that you don't end up having un-removable people in a guild. (When EnB was doing our clean sweep, I came across 2 or 3 people who when I tried to remove them, got a message saying that they are not in the guild.)
3)Fewer names in the duel list. Many names are those of people who have deleted their characters, so they just sit in the rankings.
Agree? Disagree?

I heartily concur
Agree
I agree.
This also includes several secondary trial accounts Im sure. These all need to be removed.

Eh, I personally don't really care one way or the other. IIRC the policy Guild Software described was keeping inactive accounts for 6 months, so that if players left temporarily for a few months, and then returned, they would be able to get their account back without having to start over. I'd guess that the vast majority of these inactive accounts haven't been inactive for 6 months yet.
but beo, the game went live in november. now what i hear is that lots of people joined in november, made characters, and left like poof.
now lets count on our fingers.
november, december, january, february, march, april, may, june, july, august.
10!
those last two may require the use of thumbs to fit on your hands.

We haven't nuked any accounts yet, and won't until I start sending out the "newsletter". A month or so after I send out the "check out what's new!" email, we can start sweeping out accounts.
a NEWSLETTER!
ooooooooooo
/me wants a newsletter....
(ummm, by the way, Devs, I am a graphic designer [like 20 others in this game] and work in a real print shop if you guys need anything printed...like a newsletter...or posters...or business cards {those kinda bog, but we do them}... or stuff that can go on a 28" x 40" sheet of paper...)

Yay k.p!
Get the packaging work! And the big map - don't forget the map!
BACK ON TOPIC...
Yes, I'd like to see this, too. Let's nuke the dead guilds as well. 5 Megaton warhead should work. (And Holden's not here to disagree with me anymore! Ha ha haaaaa.)

actually, players that delete their characters DO disappear I believe. But accounts are only disabled after 6 months, which makes sense. So my characters won't disappear from the duel list unless I delete them
Chimaera, when a character is deleted they DO NOT disappear.
Ex. 1)In the duel stats page there are many characters that were deleted, and they're still there.
Ex. 2)When I was doing our guild clean sweep there were 2 or 3 members that were listed on our guild page, yet when I tried to remove them I got a message saying they are not in the guild.
I made this suggestion not to suggest we delete accounts, but remove all the non-existant characters.

Hmm. In that case I'll have to ask Andy how the stats processing happens. Perhaps it just adds and never prunes.
Everman, thanks for the printing offer. I may take you up on it :).

Are you afraid of ghosts or what?
I'd just like to have an accurate representation of what characters are still around. It'd be nice, then you could have a useful tool for figuring out what the REAL percentage of Serco vs. Itani vs. UIT there are.
Same thing with the guilds. Imagine a new player hitting the guild page and patiently waiting to become a Wolfpack member. 'Cause he likes wolves or something. I dunno.
Holden Caulfield would argue that if we can't see the full guild listing or the full players duel stats, then we would not have this problem. And he's right, we wouldn't know there was a problem in the first place.
I say that the reality of active accounts should be what is represented on both the duel ratings lists and the guilds list.

Well, if a character were actually deleted, it would disappear from the duel stats page. It wouldn't be able to tell you their name otherwise.
So yeah, the definition of "non-existent character" or "active account" needs to be made clear here.

How about just attaching a date field after the players name showing the last date they played?
