Flight assist HUD indicator
Hi,
I'd really love having HUD feedback on whether Flight assist is enabled. Going into close combat thinking it's off (when it's on) is a really bad start :-/

This has been suggested before. With the upcoming modifications to the GUI code, maybe it'll even happen.
heheh... can be more than a bad start... in some cases, it's fatal. I find the lack of Flight-Assist indicators disturning...
I'd like to see a big "F-A" in the upper right corner between the target and ship status indicators... or something like that.
EDIT: Heck, on top of that, wouldn't it be cool if there was an icon next to it which indicated which thrusters were firing to compensate during Flight-Assist maneuvers?

Right now the easiest way to tell whether or not you are in Flight Assist is to make a turn and check your speed indicator.
I agree that a flight mode indicator would be useful, perhaps (also, or in the form of) a Flight Path Marker:

I seem to be having issues woth bumping the FA switch in flihgt now... either that or it's glitching, and turning on some other way. ><
at this point, I just toiggle it onece or twice as needed each time I enter a sector, to make sure it's in the desired position... not very handy, but it works... to an extent.

You could handle this in a few other ways:
You could /bind the command to another key that you are less likely to bump. Type /bind ' to see what the command looks like.
I think there's also a much more intricate bind, complete with a nice explanation of binds, here: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/1/3229 I think there's one that echos whatever state FA is in.

interestingly enough, the bumpage seems o be on the joystick... and I just don't have another place I can stick that one where it won't be a problem =D
...and here I thought the ludicrously expensive Saitek X-52 would be the answer to all my problems... lol

Although not perfect, you could use an echo command with your bind to have some type of visual indicator that FA is turned on. It's useful for telling whether autoaim is turned on or off also.
Also, if your speed indicator on the left has a red or light green background, then FA is on. Not perfect, but...
