I've already submitted a bug report, but its been a couple of days and I'm getting antsy. Whenever I try to get on the game it opens up the patch updater. It trys to patch vendetta to the version 1.2.0.2.
But it never gets past the negotiations, its pretty much stuck on the message
Negotiating update to vendetta-1.2.0.2
I can wait hours and it won't start patching. I'm pretty darn sure it isn't my firewall. If so a message would of come up asking if I should accept or block it. I've already tried turning that and my virus scan off. I've also gone in and personally added vendetta to the exceptions list. I don't know what else to do... I've tried everything I could think of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmmm, is this your first attempt at logging into vendetta ever?
or were you able to get on the game previously and are now unable to do so?
you might try to delete vendetta and re-download the client
if you havent allready done so.

This is my first time trying to get on, and I've tried reinstalling, redownloading, uninstalling then installing again... So that doesn't work either...
Hmm. This is under Windows, I'm guessing?
Is there any disk activity at all when it says "negotiating update"?

No not that I know of, I don't hear anything, and I check my processes the vindetta cpu stayed at 00, didn't fluctuate at all.
That's very.. weird. I'm going over the code, and I don't see any reason for this. Is this Windows XP?
A couple longshots: try running scandisk; try disabling firewall (if possible but I'm sure you've tried it); try renaming vendetta.lfv in your Vendetta install directory which will force a redownload.

Yeah, its windows xp, and I have tried disabling my firewall. Would my router have any security blocks? My pc is wireless. I'll try running the defragmentors and do those other things, hopefully this will work...
Well I've run my disk defragmentor, and changed the name of that file, now its negotiating download of vendetta-1.2.0.2. O_o
You do have enough free hard drive space to fit the game (~120MB), right?
I have 12 gigs left.
Well, it definitely sounds like a network problem then - it gets into the connection with the update server, and then hangs when it starts getting a bunch of traffic. I'd lower the MTU settings just for kicks, but I have no idea how you do that in Windows. What kind of access point are you connecting to?
Your gonna have to speak in more layman terms, what are MTU settings and what is my access point, it sounds like the area where my pc and the network meets. And how would I figure that out.
The access point is the device with an antenna that the wireless card in your PC connects to. Are you using a WiFi cablemodem router or something of that sort?
In your case, access point == router. And I doubt it's your MTU setting.
MTU: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTU_%28networking%29

Yeah, then it has something to do with my router... How could I stop it from getting overloaded with traffic... It sounds like maybe MTU settings have something to do with it. Since it has to do with sending packets back and forth.
I've been messing around and I've accessed my router's settings. Now any ideas on how to change the settings so there aren't any traffic jams?
I was reading thru the faq and it said that some games need something called port forwarding? and to activate it I got to fill out this list. Does vendetta online need port forwarding activated? I remember reading in your faq that you used a couple of specific ports.
(check or uncheck)Enable
(fill in blank)Application Name
(fill in blank)Trigger Port
(options: TCP,UDP, or both)Trigger Port Type
Public Ports
From (blank here) To (blank here)
(options: TCP,UDP, or both)Public Port Type
I'm still looking for MTU settings, I did the test and it at 1472 didn't get me an error message but on the opened window it started pinging but it timed out on me. I knocked it down some and it didn't time out, so my MTU settings might be to high.

No, it doesn't need port forwarding to work. Which kind of router is this, by the way?
The MTU thing was kind of a shot in the dark; it probably won't help at all. I'm afraid I really don't know what the deal is. If normal web traffic works fine, then the updater should also work fine.
The updater connects to update.guildsoftware.com tcp port 21024 and the game connects to server.vendetta-online.com udp port 21141. Don't know if that helps you at all...

Can you open up a command propt and type "tracert majikthise.guildsoftware.com" (without the quotes), then tell us what it says?
I use a Dell Truemobile 2300 router, I've run the test and noticed on the second line it timed out as you can see below, everytime I run it, it times out. I'm not sure if it has any bearing on this case or not.
