Useless Repair
Well I'm not sure if any of you have noticed this but it is much better to just sell and re-buy the ship rather than pay to have it repaired. The only downside to this is if the station doesn't have the ship you need. Figured that I would point this out.
That's why repairing doesn't cost any money.
When I tried to repair it always had a cost and it was outrageous and when I actually tried it it said I din't have enough cash.
This gets a raised eyebrow and a wtf from me.
Repairs are free everywhere I go...
Are you sure you're trying to repair?

The repair item says "0 c" and "20000 x". it does not cost 20000 credits, it repairs 20000 points of damage each time you spend 0 credits on it. It is, in other words, a hack. But it is definitely free.
It used to cost money... Way back when...
Just remove the button and auto-repair when you dock?
That doesn't seem like to bad of an idea if the intent is to keep repairs free.
I always thought it was free for the convenience of testing. I think it should cost some money, but to counteract the point Daikaze made, just subtract whatever the cost is to repair the ship from the selling price. That way you would lose the repair costs whether you sold and rebought or just repaired. And if you sold, you'd lose even more money, so it would be better just to repair.
And we're probably talking the price of a few scrap metals to cover the cost of repairing most damage. Maybe the cost could depend on the type of damage, if we get subsystem damage later on.

Daikaze, the amount you see listed in red when you are on the repair tab is not the cost of repair but the amount of damage that you have sustained. Repairs are free. You've just misinterperated that data. Check the amount of credits you have before and after the repair. :-)
Since repairs dont cost anything, whats the point of having a repair option? Just have the ships auto repair on docking, and free up a tab and a function that isnt really needed.

Because they might cost something at some point.
Why not keep Repair costs at 0 for the n00b Ship (EC-88 or so), and other ships may need some money to fix them?
Or do it the better way: Prices for the repairs should depend on the price you have to pay for the Ship at this station. I.e. if you have a Ragnarok II and it would cost you 6000 space bucks, then if it is in 71% condition (-> 29% damage) it would cost 29*60 = 1740 credits to fix this ships. The price for repairs could also depend on the standing with the station's nation., i.e. if you're >= +500 with them the price should be 30% lower or so... and of course if you're lower than 0 you would pay more ;)
Another solution would be, keep the docking on the home station (where the player is homed) free and also repairs are free there, but on another station you have to pay a docking fee (also depending on the standing)
