joystick issues
Am I the only player who experiences my joystick locking up?
When I in game at random times, my joystick will stop responding and repeat its last action. I have found no rhyme or reason for when this happens. It has resulted in my death several times which is very disconcerting to a newbie like me.
I am asking this question more towards the community then to the developers as I already have reported it as a bug.
I am using a five-year-old logitech wingman on a Windows 2000 service pack four. My driver is the basic Windows version two button three axis.
It may just be that I have an old joystick, but I'm not leaving that to chance.

There's been a couple other people with similar problems. I've never tracked it down.
What does your dinput.log file have in it? It is located in your Vendetta install directory.
I really have no idea what could be causing the problem. Try Logitech's driver, I suppose, and see if that fixes the problem. It probably won't but I don't think it would hurt to try.
(side note: actually it would have for an earlier version of logitech's driver where, on my computer, when I push up on the POV hat it would halt my computer. very odd.)

I've literally NEVER had a joystick problem, and that's all I use...
Alienb, what stick and system?
I have a Saitek Cyborg Gold on my 1Ghz iMac and I've had nothing but trouble with it.
It will work fine for a few minutes then one of the controls will lock up and I'll be stick in a spin or a roll or a tumble or my promaries will fire continuously.
I'm chalking it up to becoming unsynced with the server.

The same thing happens with my keyboard!
Yesterday I noticed a "lock" on my keyboard, similar to what you experienced. I use a Logitech Cordless Desktop Optical (whew)..
My little ship (Hornet :) went into a continual right-spin, only controllable by hitting "q", forcing it to do both right- and left-spin. Activating chat ("t"), and hitting "q" seemed to cure it though, which leads me to belive that its the input-handler getting a "off" or unknown signal from the HID and locks up partially, not seeing a "release"-signal (like, when you lift you finger from the button) untill it occured in the chat-window.
/G is making unfounding guesstimates

I didn't find a way to temporary fix the problem though. If you go to joystick options and hit Scan the joystick will re-itialize. I am hoping my more permanent yet not tried fix works though, I've purchased a $15 saitek st90. If I experienced the same problems with this in joystick then I know there it is a major flaw. I will post my results as soon as I deem them accurate.
Having the same problem with a Sidewinder Force Feedback pro....The scan button trick works...but not practical in the midst of a fight.
I to am having problems:
I have a MS SW2 Prescision Pro
Problems:
-Slider doesn't work in realistic mode so I have to use the throttle via keyboard (yuk)
- X access will intermittantly lock up
- Inverted config will sometimes reset.

Roheryn, what does your dinput.log file say (located where you installed Vendetta Online to)?
If it's reporting that your joystick got lost, then I may be able to fix it by having it auto-scan when it happens.

I can copy this issue (MS Sidewinder on WinXP). Slider doesn't work. Throttling can be done with Button#4, tho. And this only goes for physics mode. All OK in Arcade.

In the joystick setup, set the slider to Accel mode and Invert it. Da.
I'm using a Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold USB in XP Pro and what does work, works well. I want to know how to get the "hat" working to enable me to look around, and to get the other buttons to work in game for various purposes. Any ideas welcome please!!!
Have you tried binding the hat to a command in the config dialog?
How do I set my joystick to be less sensitive to movement?
Use the joystick's configurator utility? Or even the built-in Windows one...
