Odd graphics errors
I am getting several weird artifacts
Ice is psychodelic
and the stations are a bit hard to find.
Not sure if this means my video card is dying or there is a bug.

If you think that's bad, look at what's happened to me on occasion:
And i have a GMA 950 from 2006.

That looks like either video driver problems or failing hardware. Some pretty crazy things can happen when you've got a bit of bad RAM on a video card or the GPU is overheating. :)
Since I am not the only one having this issue I suspect it may be a bug of some sort.

And a few other players have commented that thier ice was not being properly rendered.

No, it looks like a hardware issue PaK. Just upgrade your computer.
Edit: or stop using Ubuntu 11.04 as it has know issues with the Nvidia drivers.

Im not on Ubuntu....

Linux 2.6.34.7-0.7-desktop x86_64

I have a system here with a 6800GT and that seems ok, although a tad slow. Have you tried the "nomodeset" option when you boot? (minus the quotes) See here: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/install-boot-login/456720-display-fails-opensuse-11-4-a.html
The nouveau drivers are pretty buggy... does it do that with the proprietary ones from nvidia?
Well the problem does seem to be spreading to more linux clients...Theres at least a dozen players in VO with multi colored ice issues. Mine seem to have all turned black and are staying that way.
I do not know if its related but the grid squares on the navigation screen disappear when I am in a conquerable station sector for both the sector and system maps. I also am losing my cursor for the in station chat box at the same time...

I think it's a driver or hardware problem but we'll check it out in-game.
With so many players having this problem i dont think it is a hardware problem.
Roid wise only ice is affected - all the other roid types seem to display perfectly.
I have not been having problems with the game locking up either.
If theres any info I can get you about my system I will be happy to post or email.

What makes ice special? Reflectiveness. It may be a problem with your driver's support for whatever shader the ice is using, and other people would be having this problem if they use the same driver. If it seems to be spreading to more people, it could be that they are upgrading their driver and encountering the broken version.
This is all guesswork though.
For the record, I'm using the proprietary nVidia drivers and everything looks fine for me. I will try nouveau and see if it breaks.
EDIT: My system doesn't like nouveau, so I was unable to test it properly.

Driver issue I can believe - I would try the nvidia ones but switching like that might screw up my box and I havent had the time to deal with a broken system.
I have a 5 year old macbook, so that would explain my side.
Oh, fyi to anybody intending to toggle between nouveau and the proprietary drivers - the proprietary ones install their own conflicting version of libgl, so you can't have both installed at the same time unless you are careful.
