Excessive Lag in Inventory
This may not be so much a bug but an inconvenience with the Inventory/Ship -> Sell tab in the game.
If I were to have thousands of cus in cargo stashed around the game in many stations opening the inventory tab takes much longer than usual, about a good 10 seconds looking at a frozen screen. The same goes for the Ship -> Sell tab and whenever I sell a ship/item through that tab.
The lag is most noticeable while mining and having the Inventory tab open, as you should know every time ore is procured it automatically reloads/resets the inventory tab with the new ore noted in local inventory. If I'm mining at least 1 cu per 5 seconds and it takes 10 seconds to reload the inventory tab, the game visually locks up and is uncontrollable.
This has been going on for many months and I find it hindering the experience of the game when the inventory resets itself whenever I dock, undock, or warp and I have to look at a frozen screen for 10 seconds just to read my inventory.

Why do you have your inventory box open all of the time whilst mining? You can hit J (jettison) to see your local inventory and that is not slow at all.
I have had the same problem with the inventory list ever since I bought hundreds of proms/x-1's but thats expected with the amount of data it loads, I never really look at the inventory screen anyways.
If the inventory hasn't changed since u last looked at it, it seems to be instant i guess it cache's it?

It only caches it between docking, undocking, and warping so after committing one of those actions, it has to reload the damn thing all over again.
I have my inventory list open while mining to look something else up besides my fraking local inventory. :p
I'm just pointing out how cumbersome the inventory list is when you give it a few thousand things to look at and it has to freeze your screen just to open. Why not at least keep it from freezing the screen and say, "Loading Inventory...", or something.
This is a problem and ignoring it wont fix it.

I've noticed the same issue and reported it months ago. It only happens if you have a ton of stuff. I tested it on a new alt and obviously it worked fine. I just don't bring up my inventory list when mining any more. ;)
Seriously, even if I accidentally access my inventory from the PDA while mining, it locks the entire computer.
yea ive had it cause 3-10 second lag spikes, and at times client crashes myself
sell your stuff. ;)
Really, I'll see what I can do.

The inventory tree recalculates itself whenever an inventory item is added/removed/changed, ship updated/changed, sector changed.
It gets recalculated on sector change because the 'local inventory' section changes.
The tree doesn't actually recalculate itself until it is made visible.
I did some code refactoring and made it faster, but it is still slow. I think I sped it up about 5x. So if it took 5 seconds, it will take about 2, but that's just my empirical observation.
This fix will be in the next update.

Heh, funnily enough, I had this exact problem and followed ray's first advice, and it worked! I definitely used to occasionally crash my client looking at my inventory, but now it loads nearly instantly and it's much easier to sort through! (Too bad I did this after the economy redux...)
i wouldn't mind having my entire dau and A/C invintory sold enmasse, but i can't dock there
The 'bulk sell' tab that I created fixes this problem. Super fast and very flexible on selling.
With the current update to the inventory it works faster upon starting the game and launching from a station, but if I dock with a station or change sectors, the lag persists as usual before the update.
sure, there'll still be a lag but is it shorter than before?
it's a bit shorter, but still pretty intense, thanks for trying though, but really, is there anyway my entire dau invintory could be liquidated, except for any law neuts i might hive?, hell all my serco invintory too? that'd cut down a good 20-30k cu of junk i'm not likley to bother with anyway.
just added it up, between dau, arta, and serco space its 23131cu of crap i don't really need, that'd have to make a dent in lag.

The lag is reduced greatly when I check my inventory list or ship sell tab in the first station/sector I log in to. If I launch then dock or jump to a new sector, the inventory and ship sell tabs take much longer to open.
It seems the fix to the inventory/ship sell tabs only works within the first sector or station load when you log in.
