What? Why ignore? Alcohol doesn't do the job for you?

there is an very easy metered to use /ignore in real world bars, all you do is type /ignore in a laptop then beat the offender repeatedly round the head with it intill he shuts up...

It's a feature...bars are supposed to be a haven for abusive, loud, boisterous, annoying, stupid people.

I use /ignore a lot to filter out people with a potty mouth. My brother uses my ignore list when his kids play vendetta. I would prefer if /ignore would apply everywhere.

Kids shouldn't go into Bars, heh.

No, seriously, it is a teen rated game, but then again, even typing /hidelog does not get rid of bar chat, I guess they could add a command to totally remove the ability to see/take part in Bar Chat, like on the Options --> Game menu (Bar Chat On/Off). But alas, thats a suggestion, heh.

Between Miharu, Joyce and the new kid, why do you need anyone else to work in the bar? And who is this "/ignore" person that won't work there, anyway? Is the new guy not working out?

Seriously though, if I choose to ignore someone, I'd want it to be in effect on all channels (including the bar).

As I stated in that "other" thread...

Muted players should NEVER be able to communicate with anyone except a guide or dev.

/ignored players, to follow the concept of roleplay, I'm not against having them be heard in bars--you can filter out a comm transponder on the radio, but you cannot as easily filter out a single person when they're three feet away from you.

Personally, I don't see the /ignore command as being role-play oriented: if it's only my character (not me the player) that wants to ignore someone, it is not necessary to actually block the messages in the game-engine, the way /ignore does, I can just role-play my character as ignoring that person. I see /ignore as being essentially the same as /vote mute, only on an individual level: if I use /ignore it's probably because I find someone's messages to be offensive or otherwise detracting from my enjoyment of the game. As that's how I see it, I think messages from muted and /ignored characters should both be completely blocked, including the bar chat.

Meh, I guess that's a good way to look at it as well.

*shrugs*

We'll see what the devs do, when they have time.
