Thanks for this Surb! This seems like our best alternative to facilitate trade at the moment.
Wow!
Now just imagine integrate that with IRC and access from in-game?
Great tool, since Devs won't accept it, community implements!

The object of this is to evaluate the potential level of player to player trade. Surbius has put some effort into setting this up, so have a look at it and be realistic about the concept. Long term it should be an in game mechanism, short term lets see how it works out.
Yeah players would be more confident about using this if you guys at TGFT didn't have a history of recording IP addresses and comparing it in order to find peoples alts, and then publicly announcing those alts in one of ecka's cliche rants.
Just sayin.
Just sayin.
Well, it should go without saying that if you want to post under more than one account with the same group of people, you ought to employ tor or a proxy to differentiate the IPs...
And of course, make sure that the identities using tor have plausible excuses already prepared, in case they get questioned in chat.
This applies to any guild, not just TGFT...

Though I applaud Surb's effort, I'm not certain I see the point. VO history... (SCAR Shop, Myself, Nahin, TGFT, TRI, PA, ORE, EMS...etc...etc...) shows that P2P trade is a huge part of VO.
On the other hand, if this helps get the Devs to put a P2P trade mechanic in game, more power to ya.

Actually if it was implemented as a plug in.....
Baby steps.
Blah blah blah blah....

I invite you to re-read this post. In particular, consider the bit towards the end, where Incarnate says "[..T]here are still a few core design goals that I try to maintain: No Safe Place, No Guild-Exclusive Content, All Twitch Combat, PVP Is Possible Everywhere."
Follow my reasoning here.
Player-run shops sell crap that players pick up/craft/whatever.
Players buy that crap because they can't be bothered to get the crap themselves.
As it stands, most crap is easy enough to aquire that these player-run shops cater to the lazy newbs, that can't be bothered to grind a bit.
As it stands, there isn't enough demand for these sorts of things to justify an in-game mechanic.
If there was a gameplay mechanic, there would have to be more crap to fill these player-run shops to make them worthwhile.
Therefore, I put it to you that davejohn wants there to be more crap. In fact, I claim that davejohn wants there to be such a large amount of crap, that an individual player can never hope to collect all of the various types of crap he might need on his own. Otherwise, why would there be a need for in-game player-run crap shops?
What davejohn wants (according to me) is to eliminate the freedom of VO and to force all players into cooperating in ways that aren't quite equivalent to "guild-only content" but amount to the exact same fucking thing.
Which brings me around to "How likely are player-run shops to ever be a part of the VO game mechanisms?"
A question that can be made exceedingly easy to answer by rephrasing it as "How likely is it that Guild Software abandons its core design goals, expands the UI even further with even more cryptic and deeply nested tabs and makes a bunch of unnecessary, generic, but somehow desirable items for the benefit of the boring newbs that aren't even a major part of the playerbase?"

I declare Genka the winner of the thread (or loser, as it can be interpreted both ways) by virtue of a variation of Godwin's Law, in that the subject matter cited in Godwin's Law can clearly be applied to Ecka.
tl;dr version?
TL;DR:
Ecka Estenek, aka davejohn, aka space hitler

I think this is a fantastic idea. This creates the opportunity for people to initiate trades without the requirement of happening to be online (and monitoring 100) at the same time. Since the player count of VO is so low, the chances of finding someone online who is selling what you are buying at any given time are not great. Having this in a forum (and, ideally, an in game mechanic) would bolster trade throughout the 'verse. That it comes from TGFT should be no surprise, as its kinda why they exist.
Of course it's not likely to be used widely atm, since most active VO players don't ever check their own guild forums, and even more rarely check other guild forums.

Has someone added an ingame auction house to the wishlist? Seems like a feature everyone would appreciate...
And, here's your sign.
Thanks surb, didn't internalize the trade or the crafting sections of that thread. I simply assumed that traders knew better than I did, and I was okay with whatever fixes they thought were necessary. Mostly I was interested in the SPAAACE suggestions.
Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster, huh? How about a Titanic Titillator? :^p
