Good thing they reduced that /vote mute duration preemptively and without any evidence of abuse, wouldn't want people to be silenced for being abusive, spammy, racist assholes for longer than 2 hours!
Good thing you're also bitching about us resolving a problem that doesn't exist, because of some other problem that also doesn't exist.
2 hours is usually more than enough to actually change an individual's behaviour.

Thank you!
Hahahah get rekt greenwall!
Hey Inc, can we get /vote mute on the forums too? You know, for dealing with people who obviously have nothing to contribute to the discussion.
So the line of thinking is that 24-hours is an unreasonable amount of time, and reducing it will achieve what exactly? Reducing the /vote mute requirement was a great step towards helping with the moderation issue many of us has brought up, and now reducing the penalty incurred is a step back. I don't understand why Incarnate made this change, unless he agrees with Savet that /vote mute should be relief for players more than it should be punishment for the muted.
Inc doesn't always like/agree with your way of thinking greenie. What's SO hard to understand about that? DEAL WITH IT *puts on sunglasses*
Yay case insensitivity!
The point of muting is to alter the behaviour of the individual so they aren't obnoxious anymore. Like I said, in our experience, 2 hours is usually plenty to achieve that goal. And we've done a lot more muting than the userbase.
So, really, greenwall, please stop bitching about problems that are not yet problems. If there's some future need to extend the length of muting, then we'll evaluate that.

To be honest, as a player who has had only 1 guide action against their account since 2003-2007 I see this as a positive change.
It DOES give players a little more self moderation AND stop the need for guide/dev involvement in smaller cases. Why greeny is getting bent out of shape I have no idea. Maybe he was one of the people back in 2008 that ran vote mute campaigns?

I can name a few if needed, but I really didn't think greenwall == ecka.

I'm not bent out of shape, just voicing my dissenting opinion. Has anyone heard the joke about the two people arguing with eachother for having opinions on non-issues? If not, re-read this thread!
No, but I am sure if you could mute them for a few hours you would.
The reason inc agreed with my position is that I rightfully assumed that the /vote mute was intended to provide player relief rather than provide users a way to dispense punitive justice.
My suggestion lowers the impact on developers while retaining the users' ability to deal with spam.
We have limited development resources, so tying them up with tickets about improper use of mutes would detract from future updates. As Inc notes, 2 hours is sufficient to deal with user behavior.

Savet the politician wins again!
We have now had 460 distinct releases in the 1.8.x series.
I'd gladly have 460 more as long as Savet is happy.
