Planned game?

Oct 18, 2008 dregdata link
Hello there!

Finally, an online space game which runs good on my macbook.
Completed the tuts, know how most thing work, but i have a question.

There's one thing i don't get. Is there a story line, ingame? Are there events, big planned battles, or such? Will the story begin when i start playing missions? Or is it just a free, open space, where i can make a group, and fight with other people against the other race?

Another question: am i free to shoot everyone i want, even from the own race? Maybe other players don't like it, and maybe it's 'illegal' ingame, but is is really not allowed, in other words, can my character/whole account get a ban, or is it just something which is allowed, but maybe not the smartest thing to do.

it's IRC chat with spaceships!

Shoot whomever you like however it wont hurt people of the same race as you unless you agree to a duel (for now)

Other than the back-story, the plot of VO is mostly driven by the players (although the devs are not adverse to aiding with RP events of significant magnitude).

Shooting everyone is something that you can, and, more importantly, are allowed to do. A significant number of VO's players are, in fact, pirates. Just don't go repeatedly griefing the same person mercilessly--thats just mean-spirited.

Make sure you have a working email address in your account data (you must, to have a new trial account), and that you subscribe to the Event/Update list. To date, we've only used that list once or twice (years ago), but within the coming month or so, we intend to use it regularly for.. well, player events and such.

And yes, there is added storyline in some of the missions. We're still adding a lot of missions.

Also, consider following the Vendetta Online twitter, if you use that:

Surprise Combat Specialist. I like it. Like Long Distance Can Opener.

In reality we are freedom fighters, fighting to liberate the oppressed cargoes.

If you want to fight others with no or little consequence, Sedina B-8 is the semi-official place to fight. Remember to hail your opponent and slug it out. If i am online, feel free to try. Welcome aboard yarr

You can also not hail, but then everyone hates you.

Okay, that's cool. Thanks for the answers.
My 8 hours are up now, and i'm thinking of buying first a month.

Just one more question: what i do with the one character, has no - absolutely no - consequences for the other character, right?

Unless you do something like hack vendetta online or break the EULA, yeah.

Be warned, if someone really wants they can usually figure out who's actually playing the characters, through guesswork(looking at their combat style and way of speech) and just watching when they log in/out.

Yeah you can have an Itani Pirate Madman, UiT Trader Turtle and a Serco PvP Aficionado etc.. all on the same account. It's there for you to be able to play any way you like. And don't worry about those that spend their time with so called "alt checking", it's mostly to try to prevent guild infiltration and to pet their snooping fetish.

Welcome to VO!

Ticho's just mad, because I didn't use a condom last night.
Don't worry little buddy, I've got a coat hanger all picked out, so you won't have to share your toys with anyone!
