Ok, I see. the red aim reticle is smaller not just for you but for everyone. It is too small, though. Having each HUD element scale differently would be interesting. When I make the UI completely user-customizable, you can change the sizes to whatever is best for you.

Is it for everyone though? I've talked to a few people and they say they haven't noticed a difference. This may just be short memory of course :P

I've got a post on our forums to see if anyone else is seeing this (not a very big control group of course...)

Gav, it's not you. I see the same thing. Tiny little reticle!
Mar 22, 2006 Gavan link
So that's three people...

Are we the only one's with tiny testi- er.. recticles!?.
Mar 22, 2006 MysticRogue link
I noticed it as well, so your not alone Gav :p
Mar 22, 2006 Gavan link
Well then! Mystic can't very well have small testies... so small reciticles it is!

/me goes back to his Race Rocks Amber Ale.....

beauty stuff I say...

....Mystic that is, the Race Rocks is nice of course....

/me ducks Mystic's suitor's small testi-er, recticles?
Mar 22, 2006 leapfrog link
rotflol... :)~

Not gonna even go there with Mystic's testes... or my new "thingys" I bought for her... *big grin*

But I *will* pipe in and say that the reticle is about half it's normal size (or more)... but then again... I haven't really been using it lately... I've noticed that once the "feel" is acquired (it takes a fight or two to get warmed up), I'm using other visual queues more than the dancing red/yellow targetsor that I used to rely on... I've been flying more with AA off... and I tend to only glance at it (prolly why I suxsomuch) instead of *using* it...

I have my vids max'd, and am flying a rather large screen (hey, I'm old)... so there...
Mar 22, 2006 Gavan link
Ok... so I would say that's a dead issue.

And Seta...

Soon as I get my recticle back I'm gunnin for yah!...

:P

Ok now... back on topic!

You guys find the red reticle is too small? well I don't or may be i just getting used to it.

BTW DEVS: The release is JUST GREAT(at least for me) a couple of bugs seems to stay alive, but i know you'll take good care of them.

the "speed doesn't reflect your speed when you were in physics mode" is just so great and add so much in combat. "SL" you 'll get used to it and i hope you'll feel its just great like that.

I can now play with all settings at the highest and my game still smooth (and damn beautyfull!)

But i got 1 bug to report:

the engine noise do not cut between the end of the warping animation, and the begining of the loading bar . It does not affect gameplay but could become annoying if it still like that.

Now we give you 1 or 2 weeks to fix bugs and then: NEW CONTENTS!!!! :p

Bravo !

Ray: I'm used to /hidelog when I want to have a serious fight and not be disturbed by the chat box. I found that the rest of the HUD can be of some use at that time ;-)

You can blame my jerky focus but poor ex-smoker me would just love to have hidelog back. Please :o)

Thought that I would add that my fps issues appear to be solved with the new 1.5.x client. Using the settings I reported there in the beta 8 thread, my fps is back to 20 while in-station at Sedina D-14, and is a respectable ~30 in combat in B8.

When I turn my graphic settings down to the barest minimum (i.e no backgrounds, no effects or shading or glow or anything fancy, everything on "low", my fps is around 160. So, that's good for combat. Yay. I admit to being a little worried... no longer! Game ON!

Will there be an update to make a Universal Binary copy of the production client available to Mac users with Intel machines?
Mar 22, 2006 Suicidal Lemming link
The game is a universal binary already.
Mar 22, 2006 yodaofborg link
Theres a few things i dont like about it, but theres a few things i do, like the description in the char info screen about levels and stuff.

I guess i'd like to be a new person for a none critical view, heh.

Anyway you guys can reset my head? :)
Mar 22, 2006 forrestmc4 link
Yoda, I just DLed the OSX client, it is powerpc. I know the betas were universal, however the production client is not.

Ion,

your link is too 1337 for the download site to handle; it will cut you off if you download it too fast. At least, with my link (4Mb/s) it worked to throttle the download down to 2Mb/s. Other fast sites don't show this problem.

I put up a torrent for the Linux client on Demonoid.com.

Cheers,

forrestmc4: the install copy of the game is PPC, but on first runtime it updates to 1.5.x, which is Universal. However, the *updater* (which is the program you initially run) is not universal, and is run through rosetta. This shouldn't be a problem.. all it does is update the game, and then allows you to hit the "Play" button, which then fires up the (Universal) game executable. Make more sense? You're basically running two programs, first the Updater (rosetta) and then the Game (universal).

Eventually we'll probably roll a universal updater as well, but it isn't that important, seeing as how it works fine under Rosetta and only runs briefly at startup to keep the game up to date.

One thing I noticed is that you could put images of your Character in the new UI. This is a future implementation or can we use it now? (Found this out by creating a new character to celebrate the new update).
