It does not actually select both missions, it just appears to.
Upon starting, Vendetta frequently does not assume window focus. Clicking in the password field (shouldn't that be selected as the input field by default) will sometimes select some icon or window in the background, minimizing VO.
When it doesn't, then things get REAL ugly, because VO will remain on-top (so you can't see anything else, aside from occasional, random flashes of UI components behind it) yet not in-focus, effectively locking you out of the computer (even Ctrl+Alt+Del does not help - task manager is blocked from view - and Alt+Tabbing doesn't work either because you can't see what you're doing; you're stuck in VO, yet unable to give it input to play)
The focus thing isn't just an input problem either... as I mentioned, the whole time in starting VO (even when it DOES go to focus properly) bits and pieces of other windows or the desktop are flashing through the black background, which is highly annoying. On the most recent beta, during the initial startup of the client, the window orientation rotates 90 degrees to portrait, further adding to the confusion as the cursor, and the other components of the desktop flashing through the background are rotated.

Hmm. I can safely say that -that- bug doesn't affect me in Windows, in window or FS mode.
I've noticed that if you've put down a navroute and are traveling along it, there are some actions that cause the navroute to reset so that you're going back the way you came to your starting point, after which you continue along your original route. Nasty.
I've seen it with opening various Options menus in space.

The problem Cunjo describes I've had it happen with the current client and some of the older betas. but it hasn't happened with 7. What I do is double alt-tab or so, depending on how many other apps I had on at the time I ran VO.
dual joysticks are now correctly distinguished under linux, thx
Jex: but what if you have between 10 and 20 windows open, and don't know exactly how many? It's a bloody pain...
Here are some pics:
The Rotated screen issue (precisely, as I saw it, only stretched across the whole screen):
Some Show-through weirdness a few seconds later in the process (different instance, but same thing) (Note the taskbar icons are in the MIDDLE?? of the screen):
Some more weirdness, a few seconds after that previous one (those patches of show through shift about and flicker rapidly, so a still screenshot doesn't really do it justice... and yea, it was doing some WEIRD SHIT to my resolution throughout this whole proces - all these screenshots are at original resolution):
and the Turret named "*UPK Remano" on the HAC that was shooting itself:

Some issues with window scaling, I apologize if they are already known/being worked on:
Running on a Powerbook G4 12" 1.33GHz, OS X 10.4.5
20" LCD with max res of 1680x1050
1. Running at 1280x800x32bpp in windowed or full screen, with rHUDxscale and rHUDyscale set to match, the energy and throttle meters are not scaled the same as the rest of the HUD graphics, and the chat window area is wider than needed. I am comparing this to behavior I am used to from the release client, so if this is still on the "To be fixed list", no problem. I can post/email screenshots that better illustrate the issue if needed.
2. Attempting to change the hud scaling using /set rHUDxscale <whatever> causes a crash to desktop (though no "This program has closed unexpectedly" error from the OS) with the following trace in errors.log

My system: PowerBook G4 1Ghz, 64 MB ATI Radeon 9000 Mobility, 1 GB RAM, Mac OS X 10.3.9
Comments on beta7:
1) Default resolution is 800x600 fullscreen, not native (1280x864). This makes things look needlessly low res and may turn off new customers. Probably better to at least default to 1024x768 if client can't auto-detect screen res.
2) Full screen glow works again! Kudos!
3) The prompt command is semi-broken. It seems to work from the console window and sometimes from an alias, but it never works in the chat prompt.
4) (Possibly related to #3) I keep my key binds in a file so it's easy to port from version to version, then I just load the file with the load command. The following two lines seem to be ignored:
bind "q" +rotateCCW
bind "e" +rotateCW
I can type the same thing in the client and the binds take. Also, +rotateCCW and +rotateCW seem to work backwards.
5) Ambient engine noise, and background music have clicks and occasional dropouts on my system. Thinking it might be a CPU load issue, I tried turning off texture compression and lowering the texture resolution so there wouldn't be texture thrashing, but sound still had issues.
6) Believe it or not, I discovered that I actually get better fps with the Texture Compression on (except near stations). (At least in a 1024x768 window)
7) Once, when I jumped from one sector in Azek to another in Azek, the background music abruptly stopped, then reset to the beginning of the track.
8) It would be nice if the Speeding Through Space screen had a progress bar and hints, or perhaps something similar to Bill & Ted going through those time tunnels...
9) I used to be able to switch to the mission tab and have my echo text go there. Now it always goes to the chat tab. Is there a way to control this, or perhaps introduce a 3rd tab for custom stuff?

not 10 apps, 10 windows - there's a difference. On average, 3-5 of them are Windows Explorer windows, 2-8 of them are Trillian, one is Mediaplayer and one is Firefox (Active list).

Holy mackerel. I just got back from the twilight zone...
I was exploring a sector in Latos and it turned out to have an Ion storm in it. Ok, no problem, I fly way out and lose the bots, then head back to the roid field to start prospecting. After scanning a couple of roids, I suddenly start "looping", where my ship repeats the approach to a roid over and over... I tried to logout, it aborts. I tried chatting in 100, after the first message, it tells me I need to wait 60 seconds before I can send again... I have no flight control at all at this point and end up bouncing off a roid. That somehow puts me into a spin where I'm going > 3000 m/s and not slowing down. So then I notice that I'm about 40km from the exit point and headed at the asteroid field. Not much later, I'm passing through an asteroid, then looping again. This lasts for a few minutes, during which chat is nearly impossible due to some strange timeout also affected by the looping. I manage to get a message out to 100, and someone suggests trying /explode. I try that and it aborts. About a minute later, I finally regain flight control and start slowing down, and 30 seconds later, I'm come to rest about 100km from the exit point. However, chat is now completely dead. /ping reports 103/10172/0 and I hit k to see if I have any server comm, but it never responds. At this point, I figure I must be dead and in hell, so I check the server list and sure enough, I'm not logged in. At this point, I come to a stop and it finally lets me log out. What a long strange trip it's been...
[Edit: After I logged back on (without closing the client), I was a mere 200000m from the storm exit. At least I didn't lose the ship.]
[Edit 2: 20 minutes later after I finally escaped that storm and docked, the char info I screen tried to bring up earlier popped up. Also, I saved the errors.log and some screenshots if you want to have a good laugh at my predicament.]

Screwball, WOW! That's easily the most exciting VO 3 bug report to date!
Anybody else things screwball is flying under the influence?
:-D
Neat. We want pictures!

channels 1, 11, 201, and 202 ( well all channels exept 100 ) don't save up when you log off, you got to re-/join them each time you log in.
Screwball, that has happened to me two or three times in the old production client (1.2.6 is it?), I'm pretty sure it's a connection problem, as in your client & the server start talking smack to each other, and goofy stuff happens.
I'm pretty sure I was sober for those things...

I SO want to see pictures... that's hilarious.
Someone smack Cunjo for not using a tabbed-browsing capable browser. Like, several of his posts ago.
Firefox IS a tabbed browser, foo.
Note that I DID say only one was the browser.
Note that I DID say only one was the browser.
I've been using Beta7 for a day or two now. Here are is some feedback on it.
-- Station Screen --
I've read a thread concerning the logic on putting the tabs on the right hand side, but it still feels quite akward to me. I use the Alt- hot keys, and that helps some, but digging through all of the tabs can be a chore. I'd prefer if they were along the top or left side, but I won't hold my breath.
Also on the Commodities section I would really _REALLY_ like an unload all / unload and sell all button(s). If I'm doing some heavy trading between stations its a pain to have to go to Ships just to unload everything and then run back over to commodities to pick up your new cargo.
Why can the Nav computer only be accessed through Station.Net also. Its a pretty handy thing to keep around all the time. It seems out of place here. Could that be a global button?
-- Keybindings --
Could the keybindings page not take up the whole screen. I didn't even notice the scrollbar on the far right side as everything I'm interested in is on the left. At the least could the items be centered instead of left aligned.
Also, I would really appreciate a CLEAR button for keybindings. Maybe you can do it by hitting ESC while inputting, but I tried everything else but that.
Only other problem I've really had is some graphics lag when docking or in the station. My mouse will jerk around. I think it has to do with a large convoy of bots forming. I'll try turning down my settings and see if it happens as regularly.
Can't think of anything else at the moment, but overall I like it better, especially the bigger menu on buying commodities / equipment. Good work!
