Okay, found some initial issues. Not big ones, it still runs great. Just some texturing things.
One of the planets in S9 has a blue gradient, a very low quality gradient, instead of being a planet. Still looks like a planet, just, odd. Around the sun it appears on one half to be white around it, and there is a odd lighting effect coming out of the other half. At opposite ends of the sector there is some sort of circle type thing. Not sure what it is, but it's also a gradient in a spiral sort of shape. Very trippy.
Otherwise it runs great, very fast.
Crashes on exit occasionally

mine comes today! I can't wait!
Just got it, man it's fast, I get better speeds in Vendetta.
I got Panther also, but I'm holding off on installing it. I'm going to see what more people say about it before I do so. I've got my reasons...
/me doesn't want to fall into the same trap he did with Jaguar on his former iBook

Panther runs fine on my G5. I get about 30 - 50 FPS more in Vendetta. Programs launch quickly, the new interface and all is sweet. :-D
OMG! It actually fixed a problem!
Before when the screensaver would activate while Vendetta was running, it wouldn't wake, but now the screensaver apparently relinquishes control to Vendetta, and it doesn't crash! I move the mouse and whoo, back it comes. Awesome.

heyo! My copy of panther just arrived, i'm currently installing it on another computer, and then I will install it on this one (which I play vendetta on). I'll post any relevant info afterwards. Just thought I'd brag about it for now.
*temptation to kill and steal rising*
*hugs iBook close to chest*
NEVER!
NEVER!
Wooo! Just installed panther. Vendetta seems to run great, it's even faster (70-80 FPS while looking at s9 station instead of 60-70)
I think my new best friend is the F9 key...

It hosed my GeForce 2 MX 32 meg card, so I'm out until I can get a replacement card working. Right now I'm on the stock ATi 16meg card that came with my machine. Yeeccchh!
Quick question. Can you do a clean, full install using the Panther upgrade CD? The manual shows that option... but then again it's labeled as an upgrade CD, and it only costs $20. But I'd much rather not just upgrade it, since I'm worried about extra crap being left behind.
That option should be there, boot off of the disk and look for it. Something about format disk and install.
Did a clean install and Vendetta definitely runs a lot quicker than in Jaguar. Although turning shaders on leaves a complete mess of artifacts with framrates of about one or two frames per second. Wheee!
Odd problem, when the VendettaUpdater utlity, the thing you launch first, tries to quit itself, it instead crashes. This don't affect gameplay whatsoever, it's just disconserting to quit to a message letting you know that it's crashed. Fortunately it launches the game before it dies.
Yep. I posted this in the Bugs Forum. I noticed the unexpected quitting in Jaguar too, but it back then it only happened 50% of the time. Now with Panther it's 100%. At least the performance boost I got from the new OS was well worth it.
Heh, I thought we found and fixed that problem a while ago. Maybe we never released a fixed updater.
Yeah.... the bug reporter never works in OSX, either. I'd have to manually open it if Vendetta ever quit.
It used to launch automatically back in version 3.0.7. You just had to wait a while for it to kick in. But now it doesn't launch at all. Luckily the game doesn't crash nearly as much as it used to, so I don't think it's too much of a big deal. There's always the website bug reporter also, as well as e-mail.
