Limit renaming to capships

Please limit the renameship command to capital ships only, as some poor pathetic player seems to have taken it upon themselves to start taking peoples capital ship names, likely naming a station full of atlas's or moths just to steal the names from long term players, and not even to use them, just to piss people off.

This is one part of vendetta's behaviour that can be fixed, and easily so.

Please, remove the tool from this pathetic person's arsenal.

Or you could make a name persist through death... Seems needing to rename each time is unnecesary anyways

Don't ruin the game by taking humor away.

since when can u rename noncapital ships?? sounds like a bug
Jun 15, 2018 Nyscersul link
You can rename any ship with turrets.

And, mr joker, its not fun in the slightest when someone decides to take the name you have had on your ship for the last two years, with no intention other than to piss people off.

Facilitating this kind of behaviour is not in any way enriching to the game.

+1 I don't see any reason noncapships should be named at all

If you can not have duplicate names, how did you lose the name to begin with?

Character names are unique, and if you delete a character, that name is up for grabs.

@koba71: Just because you can not see any reason, does not mean that there is not any reason, and may just indicate a limitation on your part, to see any reason.

Perhaps the proper suggestion, is that a ship name will persist after a ship is destroyed, until the ship's pilot logs back on.

The problem is that very few people know how to smile.

I lost my trident due to the game crashing whilst i was under attack, and the game took nearly five mins to log back in.

Seems upon the death of my ship someone renamed an atlas or a behemoth to my ships name with no other intent than to piss me off. I have no worry over ship deaths - combat is combat, if you dont like the heat, you dont get in the water - but when someone decides to take a name that has been mine since i first built the ship, and is a name no one would have ever thought of, thats just someone intentionally trying to be an asshat, and upset people, beyond the game mechanics for combat.

Thats a toxic character, and a type of character whose behaviour is the reason we must change certain things, because their behaviours beyond the rational level of combat require additional management.

Simply put, this person is out to upset people using a part of the games mechanics which is not intended for abuse in this way.

For what reason am i, the first and until now only user of that name, now no longer able to use it? Because of someone intentionally seeing my name and using it to piss me off. And not just my ship name, that of several other ships as well.

I am sure most of the pilots in the universe would much rather be choosing a permanent name for their ship, like a character name is unique and your own, rather than chance losing their ship name because of the aforementioned toxic personalities.

And, ironically the combat that led to this was a sure win my way - i had my escape planned, i was at the jump, i was just killing stuff till it was time to leave... And the game crashed.

Nyscersul, I think that you should be extremely flattered that someone cares about you so much, that they wanted you to care about them. And I even congratulate them on their success, because I can see by your posts, that you really do care. I demand that the devs track this person down and give them a hug, from me.

What makes you think that you have the right to own ship names? Just because you thought of a name, that doesn't mean you have the right to permanently own it. This is a completely self-conceived concept.

You're not the only person to experience this. I've seen alt names stolen when they were deleted for some reason, for no other reason than to attempt to piss off the original alt holder, and perhaps to impersonate the original alt holder in a hilarious manner. Nope, GS did not act.

Secondly, nobody can make you pissed. You're pissed because you chose to be.

I once had an alt called _Wash_ named after the popular tv character (and a little bit to annoy -Wash-)
The developers renamed it "Do-not-impersonate-people"

I admit, I came up with this tactic. So I'm that "pathetic" gal that has loads of Atlas ships in all my hangers with funny names. Wash and I keep meaning to make a domain name squatter bot to sell the names back. This is just a interesting tactic that adds a different dimension to the game. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not a valid game play.

Easy way to combat this, is to have the person remote flying your Trident make sure they have an atlas ready to go to rename it when it the dent gets boomed. You let them fly your dent, so it is only fair that they are responsible for protecting the name. ( I am just assuming that is what happend.)

Also, ships are not permanent. Why should ship names be? Just do this: Ship Name II, Ship Name III, Ship Name IV, Ship Name V, Ship Name Etc. I think Harpo does something like that with his names.

Blazzy has a good sense of humor about the whole issue (you should see what his Dent's name is right now. I laughed so hard, i vowed not to steal that name).

+1 to persistent ship name after death.

Clearly all the -1s are from trolls who enjoy doing it for the mere drama and toxicity that it generates.
