Feel like this one is self explanatory. A place to advertise what you're buying or selling. FCP, FFSSA, SSS, large capship components like engines or docking bays, data aggs, etc. Would be a good fill-in while more refined in game p2p marketplaces are in the pipes.
-1 there are already existing mechanisms for trading goods between players in game.
prepioli, thats what discord is for, or bot shops :P
yes, been suggested many times in various incarnations

Luxen this is a place for suggestions for the game, not for 3rd party crap

greenwall, if this were a suggestion for an actual market, sure, i'd +1 it. However, as he wrote:

I figured he only wanted this to be a temporary thing, which sounds like a waste of time, during which we could easily use such 3rd party options (though we could use them better)

Trust it or not (-1) bruh

Not everyone has a bot to sell their wares. Not everyone is on at the same time to advertise their interest in buying something that bots may not have. It's a legitimate suggestion to try and draw people together for commerce.
That said, I'm not sure it necessarily needs it's own forum, since it could just as easily be classified as Roleplay.

Pandoram, I see you online a lot. What sector is your shop in?
This could easily replace the useless "The following items are scarce in this station" box in the PDA. It could open a window, showing me items that someone has posted and allows me contact them then for purchasing them.
As Wally and Draug pointed out, one doesn't need third party apps for this, and it allows me to reach out to people that do not share the same Time Zone as me.

Latos n-15 , my shop drops stuff/items with behemoth xc , /msg "Pandoram" list to check
Pandoram, if you are not in N-15, does the shop still work?

On topic: We should have an in game version of craigslist. +1

+1 Commerce forum
Fair enough, luxen.
However, I guess I imagined this as an in-game forum thingy, on which a trading mechanic could be expanded upon.
-1 to any additions to THIS forum.

+1. It's alot of coding though,so dont expect it soon.
+1 I would love an in-game auction house where goods could be posted. Of course, the exchange of money and goods would have to be arranged between buyer and seller, but at least it would provide a place to see what goods are available and how much the component usually sells for.
-1 because it would completely, utterly obliterate pirate gameplay.
I think some people are getting unnecessarily worked up about this specific suggestion. However, the original poster also hasn't come back to give any supporting details or clarification.
The original suggestion was for a "Marketplace Forum," not some in-game method of offline trading. Even if this were taken to the next step and turned into an in-game bulletin board for communication of commerce when people are offline, it's still not going to do anything to disrupt pirate gameplay as many pirates have always been vocal about when opposing safe in-station trading.
Whether people are using in-game chat, a dedicated forum, email, or Discord, none of that has any direct impact on piracy, because no game mechanics have been changed.
A little off-topic, but even if offline-trading were implemented, it wouldn't obliterate piracy, it would merely change it. Rather than being able to interrupt a large trade mid-transaction, you would instead have to try and intercept the goods enroute to or away from the station of trade.

It's clear that you are not and never have been a pirate, draugth. Try being an actual pirate before you pretend to know what it's like being one. Trying to intercept goods enroute is something we are already doing in addition to interrupting a trading session. So it would reduce opportunities for piracy, not merely change it.
