Developer Thread

Heya guys...

I was just thinking after all this stuff on here for suggestions and we see inc's comments and things, but the forum is difficult to follow, updates are unknown until release.

I think it might help if the playerbase were given a thread to look at that shows what is currently being worked on by the devs.

Lock it for developer access only, i think, read only for players.

And, in response i think a clause in the ROC should mention badgering devs about delivery times.... This is not about pushing the devs or giving them a hard time, its about trying to get a cohesive idea of where they intend to take the game in the incremental near future, one to two patches at a time. For example, did anyone know there were changes being made to autoaim? Seems a good change, but bit out of the blue hehehe.

Would give us some idea of whats around the next corner, as an intermediary to whats over the next mountain hehehe

I agree. I've had a "project" intended to solve this for.. years.

The problem is the schedule is chaotic and frequently changes, due to funding issues and partners and things that are external to our company. So one gets into the situation of potentially "implying" something is coming out soon, that then everyone gets excited about, which is then actually delayed for months.

I'm working on finding the right balance of a system that shows "generally" what's going on, without being too specific, and I think we're getting close. Much closer than we have in the past anyway. I'll reveal said system when I think it's ready.

Id say a simple case of knowing what the next patch will address at least would be wonderful.

Id love to see lots of things happen, but i suppose seeing what will be happening next is all we can ask for ;)

You should hire a 4th developer, and some actual in game moderation.

Then perhaps you would not be so drastically out of touch with your own game/playerbase.

Instead of getting mad that Incarnate scolded Greenwall, it would help if you donate $500,000 to GS for Incarnate to sustain that 4th developer for 5 years.
Jan 24, 2017 Mi5 link
Perhaps if we had you know, some actual marketing then GS would not have to rely on a handout.

If something like this was targeted towards players on computers, you know the ones who pay the largest subscription fees then perhaps I would not have to write a check to sustain operating costs across the board.

Take that from someone who worked for the automotive marketing industry of every major franchised player in the US market for many years.

automotive industry != gaming industry

Apples and oranges, silly little know-it-all kid.

Everything that Incarnate has done to this point is to prepare for a release on Steam. Ever heard of Steam??

Blaqk you told 100 that you are a millioner day trader. So if you like the game, and you want it to succeed, how about dropping some of the cash you have made on it. Game production is not cheap and I'm sure Inc would appreciate a donation from your deep coffers.

I have been using the steam service for over a decade, around the same time I originally registered for this game.

Marketing is marketing no matter how you see it JJ, but hey don't let me stop you from using ad hominem to make up for your lack of an argument.

@AFA

Use your real account if you're going to discuss my personal finances, it is not my responsibility to subsidize VO, I am the consumer. If Incarnate wants to discuss something along the lines of me investing my own money into this game, or using TV, Radio, Internet, or old fashioned mail he knows where to contact me.

Heh, Mi5 isn't a millionaire day trader. If he is one, he has better things to do than being a couch potato and keeping his eyes glued to VO all day.
Jan 24, 2017 Mi5 link
lol JJ, I make more money in a month than you do in a year being a couch potato and keeping my eyes glued to the monitor(s) but that is beside the point of this thread.

Wanna play big bank take little bank? :)

What's funny is Joylessjoker making fun of somebody playing VO a lot, while he himself spends all day monitoring the forums, checking them if somebody said something that he could shit on. Or posting a retarded meme in response to somebody starting a serious thread. I think that's even more poor than playing VO a lot.

In fact, people playing VO a lot is what we need. Then maybe a 4th dev could be funded again.

Stop bitching people... its a game its meant to be fun.

You know what, you've got me interested now.

I wonder how VO would change if I released 100,000 USD into Guild Software.

Man, that's a lot of dramatic spillover, that has nothing to do with the topic.

If anyone is unclear on the death of subscription-based MMOs, I encourage them to look at the marketplace. Blizzard's massive loss of market-share, Carbine's struggles with Wildstar, being P2P and then trying F2P and then still having a rough time.

And yet, successfully doing F2P is quite difficult and requires significant resources. TenCent and Zynga have huge teams of data-scientists and mathematicians doing constant analysis of gameplay behaviour, and testing economics models. Companies like SuperCell have pulled it off with small teams.. but only with much simpler games that aren't really "MMOs".

I'm in very uncertain territory, I never had any real resources to work with (marketing or otherwise), and 99% of my industry would have walked away from this game when PC MMOs tanked back in 2009. I'm either stubborn, or dumb, or "visionary" (depending on eventual success.. seems unlikely, but who knows?).

Anyway, if someone wants to give us some huge some of money, my contact info is public.

Now, maybe we can return to the topic at hand?
