I do agree itanis population is growing to fast, fewer and fewer people to pirate. But, I don't think its the valks fault. right now everything is pretty much completely balanced, its just that its so easy to cap right now and since we got caps before anyone else, we can fund other caps with the original cap money, and it keeps growing and growing. 1. either reward needs to be lowered, or 2. Need smarter AI that goes after person carrying the flag
But why was Itani's population so high even before the capping spree?
I think that the valk shouldn't be nerfed. Only have the maud taken up 4 cargo, and 1k hull, and the promy taken up 1k hull. That would balence out this whole mess.
skyfox,
a marauder with 15k hull???
That is over the top, if you compare the marauder with an atlas then it is already superior in every way.
just fly with it and the centaur, and you will notice a biiiiiiig difference.
cheers

16 players -- 6 blue, 4 red, 6 gold
So Itani isn't so overpowered now, I guess.

Besides, it has always been this way, in the beginning blues rule, but after a while a lot of the blues switch back to other nations, because they can kill more people that way :(.
ooh well, so be it.
cheers

i think all ships should be at s18 and the home sector key gone in s18
All specials to s18!
AAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNDDDDD remove homing there. I like it =)

Because..... Blitz...... you're Itani now. First time I've heard you say that.
(note: I don't even fly Valks, and have been to 18 a total of one time since the reset)
NT and Serco: learn to fly your own ships, they're good.

/me points to his 1 pk since the reset.
Did it in a tri-gauss maud vs a triflare valk ;).

Blue is growing because it's the easy nation now. It's easy to defend. It's easy to cap the others. Factor in the cap exploiting and blue is now the easiest nation to be. The reason is because of that certain ship which I'm not allowed to be mentioned anymore.
Also a certain someone said this would happen.

As of now, there are far too many blues.
Currently Active Players: 16 blue, 1 red, 3 gold.
Blue also have over 18 capps, while the other nations have zero.
I say we make the valk (or all special ships, actually) only purchasable in s18, or at least up the cost of it considerably.
... to be continued (at school).

Don't limit it to the Valk. I saw a lot of tri-flare Mauds right before the reset and have been killed by one after reset too. It's a great pirate vessel because it can outmaneuver big ships and take ALL their cargo. So if you make the Valk more expensive, extend the favour to the Maud too.
Or... temporarily take their NPCDEFs away until the other nations are more up to speed with captures.
=)
=)
No. What we need is a re-reset (get rid of all that unbalance yet again, thanks to the blues completely screwing the balance up) and then abolish the black market completely. Or if not completely, make the s18 wormhole phase in and out of existence. The blues use the valk for fighting, which is their privilege- but then they use the marauder to trade easily as well. This is NOT fair. They can have the uber-fighter, fine, but they should have to go through hell trying to earn the cash to buy them. Same as the golds shouldnt have the valk or the prom, only the one-size-fits-all marauder for all their needs. And the reds, the prom does nicely- it has a decent hold and can fight better than the marauder but not as well as the valk.
THAT makes for a good game, each nation has advantages and disadvantages. What has happened is that a dozen or so experienced blues have enough cash for 50-60 valks each. Completely ruining the fun of the reset.
This needs to be considered, or the game will become its usual angst-ridden standoff in 7 or 9 where people constantly poke each other on and off the moral high ground. And people will get bored of that, like they did before == no testers.

Mhm.. perhaps.
But then I, nor a great deal of others, cannot imagine never flying a valk again.
It is my, and many other's, ship of choice.
Uh.. no. I will forever stay loyal to Serco. ;)

Well, I agree with him. It shouldnt be your ship of choice, it should be like gold dust to you- you get one, you treasure it; to get another would be revisiting hell.
If there were ever any questions about the valkyrie's lack of balance, I think the present situation answers them.
I kinda miss having nation specific ships too. But hopefully when new ships are added and the overall game becomes more finalized, we'll see stuff like that coming back again. I'd also imagine that black market items will be harder to obtain later on. It doesn't help that the bots are complete retards you know.
actually the real problem is that it is possible to distract the defbots out to 25k or so. If the defbots had a radius of only 4k from the flag before they turned around and went back to their patrols capping really would require 3 or 4 players. Right now the defbots are so stupid that they will leave their "post" to go chasing someone halfway across the universe while another person sneaks in 5 minutes later to an undefended flag. If they were closer when the flag was captured.. then turned and went after the flag carrier it would add balance.
The reward for a flag cap is too high as well. Maybe if it was dependent on the number of defending players online.. hmmm
150k for taking a flag when no-one is around is excessive.
The number of itani players doesn't really surprise me, although i havent actually seen too many pirates of any nation. But they do have the coolest station (sector 4) and easy acess to the best combat ship (the valk). Personally i switched to serco cause i was tired of all the team chat that i had to wade through to have a conversation when i was itani :).
