Give convoys back their cargo.

I'm not sure why but seems only the player spawned convoys have cargo. This to me makes no sense. Why would they be flying around without cargo? Is this some unintended consequence of other changes?

I know I can use an alt on another account to spawn convoys to kill, but why should I have to?

True, like every month, there are suddenly a load of convoys that come in every station. It has happened and I experienced it yesterday. These convoys do not have cargo. I have destroyed several voys in Corvus space.. and... nothing!

Also these empty convoys are extremely lag-creating.

Still, +1

Since I've played from 2014-2016, I've noticed that these voys die out when a dev hasn't been on in the game, when the devs log in voys automatically start up again. They never actually held cargo but it would be realistic if they did. Make this perpetual please and for God's sake put cargo in em. +1 rar.

Heh, no. We're on all the time, incognito.

There are actually two different types of convoys. Some that fly into station sectors just to create a certain amount of "traffic", and some who actually carry items from place to place. The latter, unfortunately, has an issue which causes their number to slowly drop off over time. At the moment, they basically re-surge up when we restart the server, so we've been aiming to do that every few weeks, until we get some time to do more analysis of the bug.

I mean the traffic creating ones, they do not carry cargo and they die off until a dev like ray makes some kind of presence in game, Raybondo I think is the one spawning them but I don't know rar.

The traffic ones die off too, and do not come back till the server is restarted. Nobody spawns them, it's a server restart that brings them back too.

These "traffic" bots should have "some" cargo tho, even if its just purified water or aquean ores.

Yeah, +1 to at least giving them junk cargo.

Perhaps if an escort mission goes untaken for a set period of time the mission should be removed from the list and the convoy should just go with whatever it was going to carry anyway.

+1 to give traffic2 convoys some cargo.

Also, give the Constellations that patrol nation capitols something valuable. Successfully killing one of those before it jumps out is really difficult.

It's already worked like that for years.

The discussion here is more about "extra traffic" fake convoys needed just to keep stations looking a little more lively, as the economy was not driving traffic often enough. The fake convoys were only meant as a stopgap until the economy system was improved, but that hasn't happened yet.

If you wanted to make things lively, then perhaps those friendly training pilots could be thrown in a handful of capitol nation space sectors, to get their rears handed to them by the more dangerous bots ;)

" It's already worked like that for years." Didn't know that, Haven't seen any non player launched convoys launch, only noticed them incoming. All of them I've spotted incoming have been empty.

LNH is right Inc, it *may* have worked like that in the past, but since the new sector timeouts, I've not seen any NPC's outside stations except where players are present.

Yeah the sector timeouts break the cargo and convoys.

I don't have the slightest idea if this is feasible from the developers perspective, but why not just re-implement the older convoy system that DID haul cargo, and leave them out of the dynamic economy? I presume you still have the old code saved somewhere. I know this isn't a real fix, but sounds like a good stopgap.

Seems they have cargo now, thanks for fixing this.
