So, just as it says. Decrease the Fused Composite Plating to 100 cu. This would cut the haul time of the trident down significantly, and allow it to be done more efficiently. I think it is a fair and sensible change.

I would genuinely like to hear the downside of this. Other than the people who have spent zero time building a trident, saying "stop whining". Those lazy ****-heads get no say in this, as they have no context for the pain that trident building causes.
The only downside would be the greater efficiency in building a trident which seems to be not what GS currently wants to achieve. This would enhance productivity for players without tridents to 2 at a time and trident owners to up to 12 at a time.
Since the cost of rebuilding is currently ridiculously cheap I don't see this as something likely to happen. Once the cost has increased to something meaningful, then we might get some bones thrown our way to make building easier.

Been there, done it, why should others have it easier?? Why not make it 10cu so it would be even quicker. Stop whining, you only sell the bits anyway Darth.

CatMan build a S/P with 100cu ,fcp won't that help?
If the first people that built their tridents would have said the same thing, none of us would have them. They used to be much harder to build and some of the first people were like "yo this should really be easier".
I think that trident build process is already hard and expensive. Pretty sure there isn't another soul that would say "yea the trident is too cheap and easy to build". Pretty sure I've only heard things like "Oh you wanna build a trident? Have fun selling your soul to raging JB".
And really, I don't think this is a large enough change to make current trident owners bitter. This would only serve to making the hauling a little easier. And by little, I mean very little.

I agree, but given the amount of push back that comes up any time there is a suggestion to ease the requirements, I suspect it is going to take a strong reason to persuade GS to make those changes. Right now, people still build and people built with even more challenging conditions and requirements.
I just don't have that good reason to give at this point as to why easing the requirements is actually needed beyond that some people, like myself, don't want to play a life sucking succubus... At least not online.

I would rather see the number of FCP required to build the thing reduced than see the size of them reduced to promote more use of the Behemoth XC.
That ship promotes boring gameplay by being slow, weak, and defenseless. The standard issue Behemoth on the other hand can pack missiles and mines, and gives incentive for more seasoned players to enlist newbies as turret gunners.

What ARF said. While constructing a reactor a couple weeks ago, I had a whopping one interesting encounter: a competent pirate and I had a spirited chase with me in a moth o' FCP and him in a energy/jacks Prom. That was actually fun...blasting turrets, dropping mines, and ultimately escaping with a few shreds of hull while doing roughly 60% damage to the heavily-armored prom. Had I been in an XC, it'd be stop and pay and carry on.
As a pirate, I love XCs - they're inherently expensive to replace, slow, unarmed, and often used to carry stuff worth stealing - but they're kinda boring, too. It would be nice to see them restricted to the role of a) bulk movement of trade goods/ores and b) heavily guarded/planned movement of the most expensive manufactured items (though these days most people will just use a dent for ultimate safety).
If FCP size is reduced, it should not be more than 19cu - leaving space to carry extra crap in the moth at the expense of even more mass, but at 101cu still not fitting two into an XC.

yep +1. Think about it rats, you'll be able to get 2 FCP out of an XC instead of 1.
Dude, FCP are so cheap. It's all about the engine pylons and reactors.
I would much rather have twice the volume of dent-part running moths in Grey than have any given XC possibly have two FCP rather than one.

You've gotta understand that, while not being the biggest set-back, this is one of the most difficult stages to complete of the trident and its the point where most people quit.
This would mean fewer capship parts flying around period.
Part of the beauty of making capship building easier is that more people will start doing it on their own. Which means they will be easier to pirate, and will lose their shit easier. But since it will be much easier to build, they won't care as much and continue building anyways.
Trident building being so hard has much to do with why the manufacturing part of the game is barren. The coolest shit is too hard to build, and everyone would rather buy the it than make it themselves. Make the cool shit easier to build so that we can all have fun building it and taking it.
I am by far not the best builder nor will I ever be, but I understand the simplicity of the mechanics. Saying things like "yea just pilot a regular moth and its more fun" is just garbage, and anyone who says dumb shit like that knows it.
Make no mistake, this suggestion is 100% about finding small changes that will serve to make the process a little more fun for the builders (any "pirate" who doesn't see how this would benefit them are fucking retarded).

Are you kidding me? I see more dent and other mfg-related tradeships in Grey now than I have EVER seen since before moths were in the fucking game.
I'm open to being convinced it could get even better, but any pirate who tells you there is a dearth of prey in VO-terms is fucking retarded.

Manufacturing gameplay is pretty barren, Darth is right, but so is everything else.
